DreamStations don't display AHI?

Post by 25YearsOnCPAP » Thu Jan 05, 2023 7:51 pm

Two of my sisters were affected by Philips-Respironics recall. They now have DreamStation IIs. They say machines do not display AHI in the morning. You have to use app to see AHI. One sister was never given passcode to access app. My other sister said the default passcode is "1234" but your DreamStation II must be transmitting sleep data to be available in app. So my sister with implanted defibrillator cannot even see AHI data. Is there a clinician setting so AHI is displayed on DreamStation II?

dunno anything about dreamstation 2. however, google showed me this-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1uhD42aP9I

didn't have sound on, but it looks like ahi is just displayed?

if this isn't correct, a dreamstation 2 owner will come along soon to correct me.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

The AHI as well some other data should be shown when therapy is turned off or by swiping the touch screen with ones finger (I just did this to confirm the finger swipe does display the screen). It is similar to the screenshot from one of the DS2's documents below. I don't think this display can be locked out from the patient, but I'll take a look tomorrow at the manuals if I can get a chance.

whenever I wake up and turn the DreamStation 2 off, the Home Screen lights up and my AHI is shown. Have your sisters take a photo of the screen when they first turn the machine off and share the link to the image.

Hey there, back this morning after taking a look at the DS2 and setting for 'Patient Access'> 'Patient Controls' and 'Patient Data'. The 'Patient Data' which includes AHI on the main screen can be disabled so it does not display. I did try this on my DS2 and the AHI is absent. The setting for 'Patient Data' can be changed to 'ON' in the provider/clinician menu and this will enable the the AHI in the main display.

To enter the provider mode.....
'With the device plugged in, press and hold the Therapy
button for several seconds. When the light ring around the
Therapy button begins flashing, continue to hold it down
while using another finger to swipe down on the screen
until “Entering Provider Mode” appears.'

When in provider mode different settings are accessed by swiping the screen up or down and touching the setting name to change.

Revealing the secret handshake is a kind and thoughtful gesture.
Shame on respironics for locking essential data away from the patient.

Thank you so much. I only know ResMed. Shame on Philips and DME who think best to hide everything from patient.

My sister says no "Patient Data" option in Provider Menu. The last 3 items in menu do not have have "Patient Data" under them. Here are photos she sent. This is straight CPAP DREAMSTATION 2.

My sister is able to to see data on sdcard in OSCAR. And see data in Philips App. Totally weird. Her defective DREAMSTATION displayed AHI on display in AM. Total pain to l use App to just see AHI each morning. She is sending me OSCAR and App screnshots to see what data is available.

OSCAR Data
Events Flags
Flow Rate
Pressure
Leak Rate
Snore
Tidal Volume
Respiratory Rate
Minute Vent.
Inhaltion Time
Exhalation Time
AHI
Time at Pressure

Just discovered OSCAR says my sisters machine is AUTO ADVANCED. And APRIA making her use CPAP mode. Shameful 😱
Ok. She wants to set to AUTO mode. It is on CPAP at 10 flex 2. What should set AUTO to?

From her OSCAR data, she had bunch of hypopneas between 4 and 6 AM with AHI at 6. Auto mode should help with that.

Maybe set AUTO max at 12, AUTO min at 8?

She's in Sacramento County where all flooding so limited electricity. Tryi g to help her out. Thanks all.

I went into the provider menu again. In my DS2 in the 'Settings', 'Therapy' tab there are 4 screens as noted by the dots on the right side (the number of dots on each tab denotes the number of screens on the tab) . Each screen is accessed by swiping up on the display screen. My third screen is for 'Patient Access' settings. You appear to have 5 dots, so there are likely 5 screens of settings. Hers may have 5 setting screens for the 'Therapy' tab since her DS2 is set for CPAP mode rather than APAP (auto PAP) like mine. There also may be a difference in firmware versions that could add a setting I don't have. In the image below the third LED is illuminated on my DS2 is for patient access. I would think that one of her screens in the 'Therapy' tab would have this setting. If so and it shows 'OFF' on both controls and data, tapping on the 'OFF' name will toggle the setting to 'ON'. Change both to 'ON' if she can.

My DS2 screens for the 'Therapy' tab...
1.
MODE
Min Pressure
Max Pressure
2.
FLEX
TUBE
RAMP+
3.
Patient Access
- Patient Controls
- Patient Data
4.
Options
- EZ-Start
-Mask Type

Another note.... the security PIN you mentioned. That is in the 'Device' tab in my machine on the last screen. The PIN can be set to 'NO' so that no security PIN should need to be entered.

FWIW..... these are the settings on my DS2. Her sleep doc would have prescribed the settings. I would think Apria as the DME would only put on what the doc prescribed(?) Unless she/you have reason to think the mode should have been auto, maybe wait until someone chimes in that knows if it would be appropriate.

My sister having a hard time navigating menus on display. Is there a secret to finger swiping? Light touch? Location on screen? Really struggling to access menus.

I guess I would compare it to how one swipes the screen on a cell phone screen. A light touch either up or down

This Youtube video kinda shows how to use the menus and how he swipes the screen
