Dream Station 2 - flimsy clips on the tank and tank lid

Post by D.H. » Sun Sep 03, 2023 5:32 pm

I already posted some time ago about how flimsy the clips on the tank lid appear to be, as well as the point where they attach to the tank.

Now that this machine has been around a while, has anybody had these clips break?

I have to report this has not happened to me; they seem to be OK.

Just one more reminder to shop wisely.
Avoid respironics machines--if possible.

I've had the DS2 about two years now. Have not had broken tabs on the tank lid, however I did buy a spare in the event it ever should happen. About $19 with free shipping on Amazon. Cheap insurance to have a spare as the machine is dead in the 'water' if the tank lid breaks. Interestingly Medicare/insurance will pay for the replacement of the humidifier tank itself through my DME every six months, but does not pay for the cover for the tank. I guess while it could break, Medicare/insurance doesn't view it as an item that would wear out.

I am only guessing, but I suspect Medicare uses a dartboard or roulette wheel
to determine some things, like lifespan for cpap supplies.
Too much work to use SCIENCE.

I would not have chosen that machine. However, it was sent to me for free as a replacement for my DS1 due to the recall. The DS1 was six years old at the time, and it was not possible to have a new sleep test at the time (required for a new Rx), due to the pandemic.

BTW, I never noticed any particles or odors (except a burnt smell when the tank was dry).

My next machine will not be a Philips (despite than my personal experience with the brand was OK); at least not if I can control it.

It seems that nobody is reporting an issue with these clips. They sure look flimsy and everybody panned the machine when it first came out for this reason.

It seems that, at least as far as this issue is concerned, the DS2 is OK.

It's also now OSCAR compatible, but only thanks to the OSCAR team.

However, other than the cancer foam, I found the DS1 to be a much better designed machine.

Funny, I got. my most recent machine in 2020, at the peak of the pandemic.
They gave me no bs about another sleep test at all.
Could your providers have been lying to you?
I guess I have just been lucky--or I give off the "don't eff with me" vibe.
(Mostly, I try to be too sweet to mess with.)

My replacement tank assembly included a lid!

Did you pay out of pocket for the replacement tank from a supplier or was it through your DME and Medicare/Insurance paid for the tank with the lid? A tank with a lid can be bought online through a supplier at a slightly higher cost than just the tank.

This is how my DME lists the tank........
1 x DS2 Humidifier Water Tank no lid, RP
