CPAP Machine barely blowing

Post by mreleganza » Mon Oct 09, 2023 12:32 pm

It's a Philips Respironics Remstar Auto A-Flex. I've had it for years and it's getting pretty old, so maybe it's just worn out.

I shifted my mask to blow my nose and shifted my machine in so doing and now the airflow is just...way inadequate.

I changed the hose, which did not help. There don't seem to be any leaks. It doesn't seem to be the mask; when I take out the tubing altogether, the airflow feels weak against my hand.

I changed the pressure from 11 to 12, and a) it doesn't help, and b) the readout quickly increased to 14. It still feels like next to nothing though.

No unusual sounds, indeed it sounds like it's blowing just fine.

Any ideas? In another thread, someone suggested unplugging the machine for an hour, which I am in the midst of. But that was to let a potential water contamination dry out, and I don't use the water heater, so I'm pessimistic about it helping in my case.

You said "for years", but how many please? What are the run hours on it?

Your local DME might be willing to check the pressure for you--just to get you into the office.
Ask if there is a charge or obligation.

Did you check/replace the filter? Is there a clear path to the intake?

Oops, check that! I should have thought if it when I first read the post. Please do check the filter specifically and the intake in general.
