Supplement lowering my AHI

Post by Okaythen » Tue Oct 31, 2023 8:37 am

Hi all,

I’m currently taking a peptide that is supposed to help with “brain repair” which has helped lower my AHI on CPAP. I was averaging about a 3-4 AHI prior to taking it. Now it’s at under 1.

Any idea what could be going on here?

Please disregard the 5 AHI in this screenshot. It jumped up to 5 after I took an Ativan and went back to sleep in the middle of the night.

Those wave forms look choppy.

It would help if your note came with a microscope so we can read the Oscar chart... ahem.

I doubt you would be of any help. If you can’t comment on why the AHI is lower and what’s actually occurring there, then the chart really doesn’t matter. But I get that this is C-crap Talk and you all love charts and graphs.

Would someone please tell me how to see that Oscar post? Clicking on it doesn't work of course. Thank you!

Zooming in turns it into a BLUR for me.
A magnifying glass doesn't help either.
If the supplement seems to work, very worth continuing, with doctor's advice.
Do not increase dosage without the doctor's consent.

We need charts in order to understand what is going on with your sleep breathing.
You have posted a very low resolution image, focused on a very very small part of a single night.
You have not given us enough information on which to base anything.

I don't konw anyone I trust on this forum (and I trust many) who can tell you how "a peptide" (name unknown) is supposed to help with "brain repair" (unknown which part of your brain needs repair). Other information you have and we don't:
  • How long have you been taking Ativan?
  • How often do you take it?
  • How long have you been on CPAP?
  • What was the diagnosis that lead to the prescription of CPAP?
  • Who prescribed or who suggested the brain repair peptide?
Here's something I do know:
Ativan, like all other Benzodiazepines works by totally changing the way your brain chemistry functions.
If you want to know what's going on in your brain on Ativan, please dive into the following site:
https://www.benzo.org.uk/, a "resource site for involuntary Benzodiazepine addiction withdrawal and recovery".

You may also find some of the information you're seeking by using google scholar (scholar.google.com) to search for the specific peptide you're using, and its effect on whatever damage to your brain that you're trying to repair. And then look for the known interactions between that specific peptide and Benzodiazepines.

you've now been in here several times and have seen many replies, in particular the explanation by ozij of why the forum needs oscar charts. she also asked some follow up questions. all of this with no further response from you.

i don't say this to be a smart aleck, but are you really interested in finding an answer? or do you expect the answer to be a simple button you press? or what?

the forum needs the info, just as ozij explained. help us help you.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Sometimes correlation is easily mistaken for cause. Your AHI may hae been going down as you got your CPAP machine setup honed, get used to your mask, and generally got a good therapy process going. If you're taking a supplement while that's happening, it's tempting to think that the decrease in AHI that you experienced was due to the supplement.

Just a thought.
