Question for the side sleepers

I currently use a Swfit FX mask and I've tried to side sleep but the mask moves. I'm a back sleeper but I'm noticing I wake up alot and I think it's do to sleeping in the same position all night. Curious to know what all you side sleepers use for a mask (that doesn't move around).

Also, I use a chin strap as my mouth tends to drop open a lot.

It's not only the mask. It's also hose management, and the type of head pillow you use.

i'm right there with ozij. (i'd be a fool to disagree! )

but i'll add a little bit to it. i learned this trick years ago here on the forum. (i think it was palerider who suggested it.or maybe chicago granny?) i trained myself to sleep at the very edge of the pillow, with my p10 dangling over the edge.

this took me months to get used to but once i did, it cut down quite a bit on the mask slipping about.

I use the AirTouch F20 full face mask and have no issues sleeping on my side. The key for me is to make sure the headgear is tight enough so my pillow doesn't dislodge the mask when I roll over.

I'm a side sleeper and the Resmed Airfit N20 has been the best mask for me for several years now.

The headgear loosens up quickly, and needs to be adjusted--
And changed out to a clean one rather often.

I transitioned from back sleeping to side sleeping with the Bleep Dreamports. Wore them every night probably the first year and a half I was on therapy. Switched to the P10 because it's way less of a routine and it stays put perfectly fine. It's a very nice system because the mask doesn't have a lot of hard plastic pieces digging into your face. If you leak a lot, I suggest the Bleep products they work fantastic for leaking. I think by using them, my body has adjusted to less mouth leaking so I can use the P10 better.

Sidesleeper and the AirFit N30, the nasal cradle masks work for me. Same headgear as the AirFit P10 pillows mask. Yes, my mask is pushed around some, and I don't have perfect leak numbers. My usual leak number these days is between about 6 and 10cmH2O. Not perfect, but good enough. Don't recall ever having a mask that gave me 0 leak numbers, always get a few cms *smile*. I used the Swift FX mask for several years, and that one was fine, too. The N30 offers diffused and quiet venting, much better than the venting on the Swift FX for me. And lower impact headgear as well.

I also sleep close to the edges of my pillow, and use a "hose hanger" to keep my CPAP tubing away from my body. Helps to avoid the tubing off the front of the mask getting pulled on.

Anyway, yes, sidesleeping will cause your mask to get pushed around at least some, depending on how active a sleeper you are. You can still get good therapy with a moderate leak number, just keep it as far under 24cm as you can. That's for a ResMed CPAP, not sure what the numbers should be for the other CPAPs *smile*.

Use either FP 432 or F20 and prefer side sleep (at least to start). Edge of rather flat pillow so neck is still in alignment.

I wear an N30, a P10 or Dreamwear cushion. Hose management helps me.
