Dale's Hose Hanger

Post by deerhound » Fri Aug 20, 2010 1:39 pm

I finally decided to post my hose hanger. I used a piece of 1 X 6 pine about 30" long to insure that I could find rafters to screw it to. I cut a 3/4" slot down the middle 1/2" deep with a dado blade ( a router would also work). I then glued and screwed a 24" Incra Brand T-Track into the slot. The T-Track is made to hold a nut for a 1/4" bolt. I then screwed 1/4" eye-bolts into the nuts. I had a boot repair shop sew a 3' loop using a 1" leather leash, which was my 1st Irish Wolfhound's from 30 years ago. Someday I will hang a hook of some sort down from the back eye-bolt to hold my mask for drying. You can get the T-Track from several online woodworking supply companies like rockler.com or woodcraft.com. I like how it is adjustable fore and aft. I find I like it best hanging behind my head while I sleep. The 1" wide leather supports the hose very well and allows me to adjust hose length and doesn't let the hose slip too easily. Padacheek's hose cover grips the leather just right. I have a standard 8' tall ceiling.

Wow some of y-all are sure comming up with some great ideas. I can't do that in my apartment so I do have some bungee cords that I can try to rig up some thing. I'll probably order one of the ones that fold for travel or the little one that is called a hose boss that stick to the wall. Until then I'll have to figure some thing else out. Have a great day and hey! That looks like it will do the job. Enjoy, Huggies, Fay

Hmmm, very ingenious and creative, however, with my luck I'd end up hanging myself on it when I got up in the middle of the night to visit the "facility."

Does it have quick release bolts in the ceiling...just in case?

I just got one from Walter Drake and It's great. It folds up like one of those folding canes and comes in a neat little case for travel.

Nice, but not very portable.

Here's my solution... $3 worth of 1/2-inch PVC pipe and fittings and about an hour to assemble. You don't even need to glue it if you don't travel much. (I did, so it comes apart the same way each time.)

The "foot" slides under the mattress and the "hook" holds the hose up out of the way. I use a rubber band to hold the hose in the hook.
I spray painted it black for looks, but probably should have left it white. It's seen some use!

Here it is with one "riser". You can use 1, 2 or all 3 to get the right height. Depends on mattress thickness and where you put your machine.

The individual pieces.

Disassembled, it fits in the pouch of a Respironics CPAP bag along with the hose.

If anyone is interested, I can provide cutting dimensions. They aren't really critical unless you want it to fit compactly in your bag for travel.

Enjoy!

Nice solution, LinkC. And I definitely vote for the OP's solution in the manly "More Power" category!

Here's my hanger:

It's a great way to dry the hose after cleaning.

I just use a Command Adhesive Hook stuck to the wall, and a rubber band (or hair scrunchie) to thread the hose through. Cheap and works well!

No question it's stout enough to support the hose even from the weight of heavy breathing!

Please do. Paint sure doesn't like to stick securely to PVC, does it?
