As far as losing your driver's license in Canada because you have sleep apnea - I am in Ontario. When I was diagnosed 8+ years ago, the Sleep Specialist had to write to the Department of Motor Vehicles stating that I had sleep apnea but that, in his opinion, I could drive because my apnea was being treated well.

He also gave me a copy of that letter. I have that letter in my files. I have never had to produce it at any time.

Why don't you turn them "on"? You are paying for it.

Have you ever heard of anyone else being reported? Did you ever hear-back from MTO?

Your machine is top of the line and has all kinds of capabilities so you can monitor your own therapy. DMEs can be tricky! Ask and you shall receive.

Hose_head- I just go the copy of the letter and the explanation about it from the Sleep Specialist. I have not heard from anyone in the 8+ years since diagnosis about it. I have never heard of anyone being reported either.

I don't have any job that particularly involves extra driving and didn't back then either.

As I suspected. I really don't think MTO is interested in anything other than a report that someone is unfit to drive, at which point I suspect they would revoke a license.

I also suspect that very few doctors go to the bother of reporting, even when they should be doing so! Witness the occasional reports of accidents caused by a driver with dementia. You cannot convince me that their doctors were unaware of their patient's condition!

With the possible exception of a few non-compliant truck drivers, I'll bet that in Ontario no-one has ever been suspended because of a diagnosis of SA. Note that this is not an excuse for not using your xpap!
I'm workin' on it.

Hose_Head - I agree that probably no one has been called on it in Ontario except possibly non compliant truck drivers. This was done after a compliance check only. Back when I started cpap (2002) machines didn't have detailed data.

I, for one, have no intention of not using my cpap and that has nothing to do with this letter.

I check whenever I suspect that everything is NOT OK.
If I've been feeling more tired than normally, or if I wake up in the night, or...

It's only been a week but so far I have no desire to check the data.

How about almost never.....I have been on pap for 3.5 years and the 2 times I borrowed a data capable machine my AHI was very acceptable at the pressure I was using. As long as I am comfortable and feeling good I'll continue with my brick and not be obsessed about the numbers.

I check my AHI and leak rate every morning after waking up, on the LCD screen of my S9. I download the card weekly.

Fortunately my data has been boring lately, now that things are finally under control; AHI is usually between 0.3 and 0.8. But leak rate is something I like to keep an eye on... I haven't needed tape or a chin strap with my nasal mask thus far, but you never know...

I have been under therapy since 2008.

I check the AI, HI, AHI and leak rate every morning.

If my leak rate is good then my other numbers are
usually excellent.

If my leak rate is off then an adjustment is needed.

Without checking those numbers we have no idea of
how the therapy is going.

I download and check the data with software far less
frequently. Last time was when I switched to a different
mask last month.

I responded daily to the poll, but that's just the AHI score on the display. A couple of times a week, I pull the card out and look at the data using the Smartlink or Sleepyhead software, especially if I have an AHI jump or I think I had a bad night. My average runs about 4 to 4.5 and I think I could drop that quite a bit if I could stop the Exhale Puffs. I'm a bearded guy and the full face mask leaks no matter which one I try.

I've tried the blue tape and the surgical tape. Most nights that comes off, so I just use a chin strap.
