Why did they shut down the auction site?
When did it happen?

Month or so ago. I lose track of time. No reason known or given. Just up and shut down without any warning or explanation.

Darn.

I haven't been around here for a long time.

Just got the Quattro FX and was thinking of buying some extra cushions on the auction site.

Been using the plain Quattro since it came out but I decided to try the FX because the regular Quattro bugs my nose bridge and I have to wear a band aid for cushioning.
Otherwise it works well.

Tried the FX last night and it seemed fine.

Did have a few face farts about 5:30 this morning. Checked my pressure and it was not high so I don't know why that happened.
Guess I have to do some fiddling with the strap adjustments.

Overall though, first impression is that it is going to be a good mask.

Quattro? Isn't that ResMed product?
If so wouldn't have mattered if the auction was still here for that. No one was allowed to sell any ResMed products at the auction. I think ResMed was to thank for that little rule. That happened sometime last year I think.

Yes I remember that ResMed displayed it's gluteus maximus and banned that.
But I figured they couldn't control an individual.

I bought some Quattro cushions on the auction site so was hoping it was still around and perhaps people had told ResMed where to stick it so I could get some Quattro FX cusions.

I can get them from cpap.com I'm sure but it would be nice to save few bucks and get them on the auction site.

But, like my hair, that is gone gone gone :*(

The sudden closure of the site left a lot of us asking questions. I learned of it when the seller of an item emailed me to say everything was cancelled because Cpapauction had ceased operation. I looked, and the site indeed had all auction information removed. Some days later, the present message went up. Take your pick of the likely reasons: (1) Cpapauction was not making enough profit to pay for maintaining the site; (2) Cpap.com decided it no longer liked the competition; (3) Manufacturers that sell through Cpap.com did not like the competition and put pressure on Cpap.com...

The vendors that sold through Cpapauction.com are mostly likely still selling somewhere else, such as Craigslist.com, Ebay.com and Dotmed.com, if you can find them.

My question to Johnny a couple of weeks ago.
BTW, since I've got your attention, are you free to give us any sort of explanation as to why you had to shut down the auction site? It really made a lot of the members sad, and we're still mystified as to why you had to do it. Even a vague response like had no choice but am not free to disclose it would be great. Thanks.
His answer.
I am very sorry but I can not say more than I have about CPAPAuction.
It looks like we may never know the full answer as to why it was shut down. All we can do is put it into the bucket of pleasant memories.

Well....cpap auction was notorius for sellers and resellers "buying" from each other. They sometimes listed items really low and then sold it to one another when they bid never went as high as they wanted. I know in my own experience some sellers who were selling machines were less than co-operative in acknowledging or providing information if the unit was under warranty. As far as masks go, many were listed as new and never been used, yet, they smelled from tobacco. Perhaps the examples I mentioned played some role in CPAP Auction's demise.

So what are some alternatives do you prefer to buy near new Cpap machines and parts/supplies besides Cpap.com?

You can get very good deals on replacement parts on eBay if you know what you're doing. They can't sell complete masks, but they do sell parts and you can put together complete masks in many cases without too much trouble. Just be sure and buy from a seller with a good feedback score.
