Never really thought about a connection to sleep apnoea. I was always a very sexual human being then I had no desire at all, just ignored 'it'. However after 6 years of cpap therapy I have during that time found to have those feelings back. I blamed menopause etc but think I was wrong to do so. Tiredness had a lot to do with the awful affects that OSA has had on my life. Im glad this subject has been put on here, Im not alone in being one that had that problem then.

palerider,

If you answered, "no, but its side effects do...." that means to me a yes.

that's a myopic view.

does a finger cut cause death?

no, but some of its side effects do.

sleep apnea does not *directly* cause a loss of sexual desire, some of its side effects will, not everybody that has sleep apnea has the exact same side effects, so, your assumption is flawed.

There was a study of apnea, cpap, and GOLF. (Several years ago)
It turns out that golfers whose apnea was treated with cpap
tended to have fewer strokes than those who were not treated.
They specified strokes with a club, but those in the brain are the worst.

I know for a fact when I'm tired, my wife isn't get any. Sorry, if that doesn't sound nice, but hell it's just the blunt truth.

So does sleep apnea affect sex. Of course if it's not being treated!

Just going to throw this out there. But some studies have shown that a mans testosterone is mostly produced while asleep in REM stage. So if you suffer from REM deprived sleep apnea as a male, you're not producing a significant amount of the testosterone your body is wanting to produce. Fix the apnea and it's possible that the testosterone production could increase.

It absolutely has an impact on female sex drive! I think you're mostly assuming it doesn't because we don't have an appendage that we have to get up and keep up... So a woman can get by without effort and lay there like a blow-up doll, right? When I'm bone tired and depressed from continuously being bone tired, I have zero interest in sex. There have been nights where I've been too tired to eat dinner, so sex is like not even a blip on the radar. Did I mention I'm only 34? I totally want my life back!
