Settings for Res BiPapautoSV Advanced

Post by BuffDonor » Sat Jun 29, 2013 3:18 pm

Do not know all of the proper settings for my machine as I have experienced a change since I started using it. I have complex apnea and started with higher EPAPmin pressures in the 12 to 14 range but suddenly the machine started to counter with inhale pressures in excess of 20 instead of down in the 15 to 18 range and were literally blowing the pillows out of my nose of my Hybrid mask cushion. Switched mask to Quattro FX Med and finally was able to tolerate a full face mask but of course it could not handle high pressures anyway. Learned that the machine is very sensitive to settings and quite often get confused as to what is needed and that I should lower EPAPmin pressure which I did and tried several settings in the 8 to 12 range. After weeks of different settings have settle on 9 as being the lowest that takes care of my obstructive as well as my central apnea and does not seem to suddenly have as many funky high inhale readings of 16 to 20 on occasions with attendant large leaks. At present I use flex of 2; PS 1-8 cm; EPAPmax of 14; max Pressure of 22cm; and have 0 setting for MinVent as anything 1 or above seems to kick in the red warning light and signal. Also do not know what if anything really belongs in the Apnea reading so it is blank. Has anyone had a similar experience with this machine and has had to dramatically lower their EPAPmin pressure to keep the inhale reading tracking fairly close to it?

BuffDonor, you're almost there (as far as the registration goes). You now need to register your machine. Select the line that says:
PR System One REMstar BiPAP Auto SV Advanced
As to your questions, I noted you will need to do some serious reading before you go tweaking settings. Here are some links that will help.

http://www.gobookee.net/respironics-asv-settings/ (especially the second manual "BiPAP ASV Advanced - The Lung Association - Alberta and NWT")

Yes, I know it seems to be a lot of trouble, but you really need to understand the therapy a little better before you go fiddling with the settings.

John Fisher

I just wish to thank you and your fellow users for such helpful information.

I'm new to ASV and have found it all interesting and very very helpful.
