I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
I lifted the machine forgetting to remove the humidifier tank and
water got into it. Now it wont show any light when plugged in, won't come on.
Its a Resmed RemStar. Wondered if there is a little ckt breaker I can reset

Re: I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
You have to let it dry out - could be a couple of days. If you could get some rice in there it would help, but I don't know how you'd do that (others have).

If it's a PR System One machine, it's darned near impossible to spill water out of the humidifier
chamber with the lid closed, as long as the chamber is not overfilled. PR claims their dry box
design will not leak water into the machine even when turned upside-down, but I'm not about
to test that.
Did any water pour from the machine? (I assume that you separated it from the humidifier.)
Can you feel any moisture inside?
I'd try removing and replacing the power cord. And check the connections at the power
brick, too.

Re: I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
Thanks for the replies. I'll let it dry and hope for the best.
It has the humidifier tank on the end with a connection so the air blows out
over the water reservoir then up into the hose.
I've used it for maybe 6-7 years but never really learned much about this
and don't clean it enough, but seems to work well- lately mask is needing constant adjustment
so ordered some new parts today.
I'm starting to suspect my problem isn't so much obstructive although I've always been
told I snore loudly, but sometimes I wake up and I cannot make my diaphragm work until
several seconds of focusing on it. My lungs feel like they collapsed
I'm wondering if I was diagnosed correctly in 2006.
I really need to go back for a followup but don't have insurance.

Re: I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
Since your machine is older, it does not have the dry box design I mentioned.
Do your best to dry it out and see what happens. Some machines come back to life
and others don't.
Either way you might consider getting a new machine if you can. The new machines have
some nice features and show much more data. Your current machine is getting old
and if it revives would make a good backup machine.

Re: I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
Thanks again. I should have purchased one already I guess.
I'm thinking about this one:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-sys ... -tube.html
Haven't looked for other resources yet.
Don't have insurance so though about looking for used equip from an estate or something.
Its nice to find someone to talk to about all of this. I haven't ever done that. I'm sure this forum
has many helpful folks.

Re: I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
There are occasional offers here from trusted members with new or
nearly new machines at very good prices. STLMark and papman857
are two of them.
You could also try secondwindcpap.com. They sell open-box and gently
used machines. All are tested and come with a warranty.
The machine you indicated (The PR System One 60-Series Auto) would
be a great choice, as would the ResMed S9 AutoSet. The PR
System One 60-Series Pro and the ResMed S9 Elite are not autos
but are very good machines, too.

Re: I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
I'm not even sure about the lingo- what it means to be auto. You sound like an expert
maybe in the profession? I'd like one that is bi-flex, reduces pressure during exhale
and can sense when I stop breathing and force some air to get me going. I believe I may
at least partially have a central type apnea because I wake up with a collapsed lung feeling
and have to concentrate to move my diaphragm.
I'd like to somehow self study- I've heard of people recording themselves but maybe there is a machine
that does all that so we can diagnose what's happening.

Re: I lifted CPAP & forgot to remove water tank.
You're going to need to stand it on end......with the air outlet on the bottom......to see if there's any water that will drain out. Then, after the excess water is removed, try using something like a hair dryer (on low or non-heat setting) or vacuum cleaner (reversed) to blow some air into the machine to try to further dry it out.ggogan wrote:Thanks for the replies. It's too soon to know whether it will work after drying it out, but the worst thing to do is to try to start it immediately after the water gets into the machine. Too many people have done that. Chances are better if it's dried out first.
By the way, it's not a "Resmed RemStar". Respironics made the "REMstar" machines........ResMed is a different manufacturer.

Check your private message box.
I sent you some info on an APAP machine but if you prefer BiPap Auto...the same person has one of those also.
Both are full data machines and software easily available and easy to use so you can monitor your therapy and we can help too.

I successfully used rice to dry out my SD card reader when it got wet. To use it in the machine, maybe putting it in a cotton bag first would keep any rice or crumbs from getting into the machine, and may still be effective. I've also heard of using a hair dryer on low setting.

Put it in your car and park in the sun. That will dry it out. My friend did that to his laptop after he spilled coffee in it, It was just fine.

Just make sure it isn't in 40C degrees heat, as I found out much to my annoyance stuff made from plastic likes to melt in really hot cars.Stormynights wrote:Put it in your car and park in the sun. A car does, however, get hot enough to debug your luggage, if you know what I mean.
