Cpaptalk Web Site
Cpaptalk Web Site
I've been trying all day to get to this forum and just made it. Has anyone else had trouble bringing up the forum today? Edit: It looks like the last poet was at 10:14 and the next was at 4:07 so it looks like it was down for about 6 hours.

Yes, it was down all day for me too. It was almost certainly down for everyone since the error messages indicated the website couldn't connect with the database containing the user, thread, and post information.

Looks like the result of a denial of service attack.
The server was up and running but the board application was not responding.

Why would this happen to the forum unless someone has an axe to grind against the forum.JDS74 wrote:Looks like the result of a denial of service attack.

Apparently some people have axes to grind with CPAPtalk, for example, the recent goofy attacks on CPAPtalk by the Poll Troll. It's the forum security administrator's job to make sure that doesn't happen. But stuff slips thru... hence the massive Target superstore attacks upon seventy million, supposedly secure, user accounts, Yes. that's a 70 with six zeros after it

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: Cpaptalk Web Site
I could not get on with my desktop but could access by phone through the Taptalk app(I had just downloaded when it was mentioned in one of the posts) on my phone at !!:30AM Pacific. It seemed to have a few recent posts. Anyone else get it by app?

Perhaps the angry person couldn't bring back any more polls so he decided to attack the forum some other way. It does seem to happen on the weekends. I wonder why somebody would be so angry with this forum.Sir NoddinOff wrote:Apparently some people have axes to grind with CPAPtalk, for example, the recent goofy attacks on CPAPtalk by the Poll Troll. Re: Cpaptalk Web Site
I kept getting error messages too, I really hope it wasn't someone trying to do damage to this forum. Perhaps it was the website folks doing some upgrades?????????????

Re: Cpaptalk Web Site
DDoS attacks are increasingly randomly launched. And depending on how the board is hosted, the attack may not have been targeted specifically at cpaptalk, but perhaps a neighboring board.squid13 wrote:Why would this happen to the forum unless someone has an axe to grind against the forum.JDS74 wrote:Looks like the result of a denial of service attack.

Howdy,
Sorry for the down time. Our IT department was doing some upgrades which took down the website while they were working.
In future, we will try and post before any scheduled upgrades.
Regards,
Carolyn

It forced us to play, more solitaire, and kill more birds. I didn't think it was a DSN attact, maybe against the pipeline host, not the site targeted. Jim
