New machines?

Post by nick2008 » Tue Apr 24, 2018 10:43 am

Thinking of getting a second bipap. I wonder if I wait for a new model to be released or buy used. How often do Philips and Resmed release new models?

When ever they feel like it. It could be next week, or it could be three or four years. Just go ahead and get one of the newer machines. They very seldom make major changes to the algorithms.

Dreamstation came out recently (2 years?) and, according to a Phillips rep, is essentially the same machine as the 60 series in a new box. The Airsense series came out a year or so before I got my machine, so has been out for about 4 years. As others have mentioned, there has been no announcement of anything new coming down the pike. The major improvement was the 60 series and the S9, so I don't see a new one coming out unless they have another major improvement.

My brother has the 60 series. If you have dexterity problems, I would recommend the Dreamstation - easier to manage the humidifier.

If you need a new car, you get a new car., If you need a new computer, you get a new computer. Whatever you get, it will be obsolete almost as soon as you get it. No different for CPAPs.

DME's only want to take you for your $ and hope you don't know anything about the treatment ...
