Have you had the basic blood labs done? CBC, BMP, etc?

If you can afford to, I’d recommend a trip to Mayo Clinic. I had a difficult to diagnose issue with dizziness that other doctors had no idea about. 1 week of seeing numerous specialists at Mayo and they had me diagnosed, and 3 weeks after I got home with treatment I was better. This was after 6 months of dealing with numerous other doctors and incorrect diagnosis.

Mayo not only has some of the best doctors... they also COMMUNICATE with each other... labs / scans are available to the doctors on the same day, and they coordinate treatment between specialists.

All you need to do is call them, they’ll take all your information, and then set you up with a schedule of specialists to see. My visit included appointments over 5 days.

It sounds like this has had a enormous impact on your life... If it really is effecting your cognitive abilities so much, maybe weigh the cost versus getting your mind and a future career back.

You will also need rule out Narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is often though of as falling asleep suddenly, like if the middle of speaking a sentence.

However, that's only the most extreme form. The milder forms really just make you feel very tired, either all the time or it can come and go.

A standard overnight sleep test might not catch this.

Thank you for the words, friend. I do remember my bloodwork being analyzed by mayo clinic. I'll look into this but doubt if there's anything to be done. Honestly, I'd be thrilled if what I had was narcolepsy or lyme disease - anything but mistreated sleep apnea. In the meantime I'll page through all my old college acceptance letters and cry myself to sleep.
