CPAP Machines

Why are CPAP machines not able to give alarms when filters are blocked or when dangerous breathing parameters have been encountered during the night?

How much extra are you willing to pay for the filter feature? Your insurance isn't going to want to cough up for it, that's for sure.

Everything else: Your machine does not know if you are truly asleep. It would have to have electroencephalograph abilities, and you're not going to like wiring yourself up at night.

Is this really the reason you signed up for CPAPTALK? That's it?

What are 'dangerous breathing parameters'?

You won't suffocate in your sleep if that's what you're worried about - your 'system' won't allow it and a) the machine will turn off in any case if it senses you're not breathing (or the power goes out), and b) you will wake up regardless and then remove the mask.

Blocked by WHAT??? How damn lazy do you have to be to not check, clean or change the filters on a periodic basis?

WHAT "dangerous breathing parameters" are you talking about? I have no idea what that means.

My own machines use washable foam filters that I clean twice a month. I have a schedule for it and don't deviate from that.

Please!
There are so many better things to be paranoid about.
For example:
Sometime in about the next hundred centuries a sunspot will destroy all life on this planet.
It could even happen RIGHT NOW!
BOO!

Yep. Pretty sure that is what happened which is why I haven't bothered responding.
Someone just wanting to stir up controversy. Trolls. I don't feed them.

Filters don't get blocked overnight.

What "dangerous breathing parameters' do you imagine?

And yes, cpap machines that are *very* specialized, (like iVAPS and COPD machines do have alarm modules.
