Last thing Mr. Nosey - just as long as we're here - was there a reason you titled your note ALL IN CAPS? I must assume since you are a doctor (aren't you?) that you use the internet a lot, and have done so for years, so... why haven't you yet learned that Caps signifies yelling at people? Or was that your intention? Why? Do you think it's more effective? That we must be hit over the head before reading your note in case we miss something (any more than we 'miss' all the other notes)?
Some people just like to jump up and down and shout "LOOK AT ME! PAY ATTENTION TO ME".

Nosey's one of those, apparently.

The only problem I have with the attention seekers is that they distract attention away from ME!

I had the problem with one P10; didn't have the problem with another P10. Have no issues with my present ResMed mask, the P30i. Don't think Resmed would do anything like that on purpose, since it would make the customer hate the mask. Probably just a bad run or two. Happens to everyone once in a while. Even the latest Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has gas tank and suspension issues. And I came THAT close to buying one a few months back. Glad I didn't. Just wanted to say all that because I was feeling left out there for a second.

You can usually pick out the attention seekers; they're the ones constantly changing their avatars. I hate that.

I’m on month 20 with a P10 and have certainly experienced clogged vents, which didn’t feel great I have to admit. Since then, i’ve been soaking the mask with a drop of dawn added to the water every few weeks and sometimes giving it a gentle scrub with a new, soft toothbrush. Sparkling clean.

if you happen to have a waterpik, that works well too.

In the care instructions for that mask, Resmed says to use a brush to clean it.

I have to say I have had the same problems with the p10 clogging and making me feel like I can’t breathe. I stopped using it, even though I loved the fit and feel better than other pillows, because I was cleaning and brushing and still having the problem with p10. I switched to the Brevida nasal pillows and stopped having ‘lack of air’ issues.

With the Brevida, there are larger exhale ports and a removeable diffuser filter that can be cleaned and replaced. It is in this filter I found my problem. After only two or three days it would be covered in a white, powdery sticky stuff that I apparently breathe out.

It is this ‘residue’ that clogs the p10 mesh and is very hard to clean. I am sure not everyone has this issue and not everyone has the same level of buildup frequency. It IS, however, a very real issue for some of us.

I have tried the p10 again after discovering this and my solution has been to poke slightly larger holes in the mesh with a sewing needle. So far helps give enough exhaust without affecting anything also. Hope this info helps some!

I did have the condensation problem on the n30 so I turned the heat up a little on the hose... end of problem. (or alternatively could have turned the humidity down. So not a problem? Though notably the N30I has a separate vent on the head so I never felt "hypercapnia"
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"

Have used the P10 since it was introduced. I have never gave the filter any attention other than washing the whole unit in soapy water. I have never encountered any problems with breathing or anything else (except the straps stretching). Nor do I know any other P10 users who have had problems.

From reading some of the posts, one might be tempted to think
hypercapnia is much more common than it really is.
Those freaking out would benefit by reading SCIENTIFIC literature,
instead of the drivel they are used to.

My p10 mask was observed many times by rainout, so far did not have the block issue, only using it for 6 months.

When the night is warmer the rainout happens, i have to turn off the heated hose and turn off the humidifier, i use the mask fit test for 2 minutes to clean the blocked vents ion the mask by the water, you can really hear the water coming out.

The symptoms are the same, heart rate is elevated, feeling slowly suffocated, can breathe properly without the mask but with it.
I use the same method, feeling the air coming out the vents, if it doesn't come i increase the pressure with the mask leak test.

Waking up like that is not nice, i start to shake and takes 20 mins to go back to sleep.

Now i check the temp outside and what's expected for the night and turn on or off the humidifier accordingly.

I wash/toothbrush scrub my mask every week.
The vent mesh will get restricted somewhat in time. (my experience comparing a several month used one with a new one held up to a bright light)

Get a water pic, wash as usual, then blast it with the water pic.
Good as new. My personal experience.
No need to freak out.
Just clean it properly.

You might have more "stuff" in your exhale than most.
Maybe?

Now my post has been archived as well. :D

I use a waterpik on my N30.

Works great but I get water all over the bathroom. lol

A travel water pic is battery operated, and can be used in the shower.
I just imagined a mini shower curtain over the sink.

and i want to give you a big tip of the hat for mentioning this before. had to breakdown and clean my p10 the other day. after a goodly soak in dish washing liquid, i used your method to get all the soap residue out.

so thank you, chunky frog!

I wonder if zombies used water pics, then their teeth wouldn't fall out.

If they don’t have teeth, how is it that zombies are eating people?
