Just diagnose - more questions than answers

Post by karmich » Wed Nov 10, 2004 7:18 am

I was just diagnosed with moderate OSA with 72 apneas (2 were central) and 25 hypopneas during my sleep study. They also said there were 40 respiratory effort related arousals(REAS). What are REASs? I have suspected that I have had Sleep Apnea for about 3 months after my extreme daytime fatigue and sleepiness failed to be linked to any hormonal or other defficiency. I have been reading a couple of boards on and off during this time but I still find myself at odds with the idea of living with OSA for the rest of my life. Anyone know where to get affordable equipment. With my current insurance it looks like I'll have to pay for the equipment myself and I want to be sure I get a machine that works best for me and is relatively easy to use. I also have two 2 year olds and a 4 year old and worry about take care of there night time needs if I'm all strapped-up. I have had my sleep study with CPAP but haven't gotten results or equipment yet. I need to start thinking about how I am going to pay for the equipment. Any advice or encouraagement would be greatly appreciated. It will be great to have enough energy to play with my kids again but using this equipment sure seems like it will take a heck of an adjustment. How did you go about making this adjustment? Thanks for reading.
