Rent to own in Australia (Melbourne) query

Post by Danlo67 » Sun Mar 11, 2018 8:00 pm

Hi all

This is for anyone in Australia. Hopefully Melbourne
It looks like I might be losing my health care card which means the machine I have from the hospital may have to be given back.
it's taken me 4 months to get 2 nights in a row with a 1.1 AHI reading and I'm hoping this will be a consistent reading.
However, this is all to no avail if I have to give the machine back as there is no other therapy available for an AHI of 46 with no cpap.
I don't have a mortgage so I can't get a second one to pay for a new machine so my only real option would be to buy one second hand or do a rent to buy thing
I've been looking online but nothing much that's in my price range. I obviously need the machine but I'm not willing to sell my kids to get one.
Anyone have any options available? Please let me know

If you were able to buy your own machine privately how much can you afford without taking food off the table?

Okay..that's Aussie dollars I assume. Roughly $480 US dollars.

Give me a little bit...I might know someone down under in your neck of the woods with a machine they might want to get rid of.
I need to send him a note.

It's a shame that there's no assistance for those who's finances are not what they ought to be, especially considering that CPAP is an Australian invention.

It you do find an assistance program (public or private), you should not be ashamed to enroll. You have a basic right to survival!

I'm on an assistance program. But without a health care card I can't be on it any longer.
Apparently the so called wage I earn now is supposed to be good enough to get a $2000+ machine while feeding a family of 4 and paying top prices for medication for them because I have no health care card and paying for schooling and the million or so other expenses.
I'm not in that predicament yet but I very well may be after Thursday this week
