Re: Does anyone ever just give up on cpap?
Jeff, my opinion is that the only time sleep apnea is a condition is if you are born with it. In all other cases you earn it. Choices in diet, lifestyle, exercise, and the luck of the draw as far as physical damage from accidents goes all contribute to earning the symptom of sleep apnea. After noti...

Re: More aggressive pursuit of the undiagnosed
Before I was diagnosed with OSA l went to emergency to get some drugs for pain that I was having due to passing a kidney stone. They hooked me up to their machines and within an hour I got my drugs. With the drugs in me I thought I'd sleep but the machine kept waking me up due to low oxygen. This mu...

Re: Effect of fresh, clean air on improving apnea?
Jnk... I get the feeling you are trying to baffle us with BS. "Are you seriously suggesting that it's not a good idea to lose weight if you are suffering from OSA?" Did you answer that question? I am not sure...I'm baffled. Weight loss is hard, sustained weight loss is harder, but it has been done b...

Re: I'm trying a dental device option
I attached my last sleep study results to this post. It was done on 3/30/18.. Hi lzicc, Best of luck on your transition to a dental device. Has anyone discussed with you the strong element of your 'positional' sleep apnea? When you sleep on your side your AHI is 3.4, on your back your AHI is 28.7. ...

Re: Myofunctional Therapy?
Well clearly it is not well thought of here. When my daughter told me about this dental hygienist that spoke about it i said if it sounds too good to be true it probably is and of course like all young daughters do to their mothers - scoffed at me. She’s worried about her daughter who is 6 and snor...

Re: Myofunctional Therapy?
Myofunctional therapy? As you can probably tell, it is a taboo topic on Cpaptalk. I have been using the exercises, along with weight loss, to see if I can get my sleep apnea under control. I started with an untreated AHI of approx 20: I am now down to an untreated AHI of 5. For me, the exercises wo...

DankShroud,
What you describe is usually not associated with an AHI of 7.5. That is more a severe case of OSA.

Re: Complex Sleep Apnea - Hypopneas - Central or Obstructive
Hi Tonawanda, PS stands for pressure support. It means the difference between IPAP and EPAP. 15.2 - 10.2 = 5 PS Increasing your EPAP slightly seems like a reasonable adjustment and may help. You would be reducing the PS. Another thread discussing PS. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16677...

Re: Reviews of home sleep tests offered online?
Hi dh37, When you say you don't trust the diagnosis do you mean you don't think you have OSA? Are you not interested in being treated? In Alberta Canada(where I live) it is very common to be diagnosed with a home sleep test. There are studies that compare the HST to an in lab study. The HST is quite...

Hi rileyrd22,
You don't say whether you have any extra weight to lose. Anyway, type 2 diabetes as well as OSA respond well to weight loss and exercise.

Re: Going without medical advisory
My untreated AHI has been reduced from 19.5 to approx 5.
These AHI numbers are from Home Sleep Tests. I have used the Resmed Apnealink Air Level 3 tester.

Re: Going without medical advisory
Hi zoocrewphoto, I posted the links to some of the studies that support my program earlier in the thread. I am here posting on CPAP forum because I have sleep apnea. I also have a CPAP and an APAP which I use. I don't dislike my machines. What's there to dislike? Because my experience using my APAP ...

Re: Going without medical advisory
If you are doing so great, why not fill in your control panel with your machine and mask. Show some Sleepyhead data so we can see how great you are doing and maybe learn something. Machine and mask filled in. I posted some of my Sleepyhead data at Apneaboard at the link above. I posted a cou...
