Thanks for setting my mind at ease guys! I picked up my new machine today. Just as described. Brand new, in package. 0 hours on it. Brand new heated tube, regular tube, and even a brand new mask all in packages unopened. Now to sit down and get it all set up. I enjoyed my s8 elite and I can already tell this airsense 10 autoset for her will be even better. $250 well spent. Sadly the woman selling it never even tried. She told me she just plans to lose weight because she doesn't want to do cpap.

I will end up selling the mask. I don't do nasal masks. I am a pillows kind of girl with a full face back up for when I am sick. So I might sell or trade this mirage Fx for a full face mask.

Please be aware that buying a CPAP without a prescription is illegal because it threatens our society.

You mean it threatens the ability for DME's to scam yet another insurance company out of a $1,000+ for a $200 Cpap machine...

We have three machines, two purchased by our insurance, and one I purchased from a private individual for around $800 under list price. The machine was brand new ad still in the manufacturer's shipping box. If we need another spare machine, I will start checking our local Craig's list.

And for the record.....I have a prescription. It is 12 years old, but if I had to prove I had a prescription for cpap I could call up the local sleep center or my old doctor and put in a request for records. My script would be there.

Except for the fact that it threatens society, you all are tempting me to start shopping for a backup for my 3 1/2 year old PRS1 60 960 ASV.
If someone has either a Resmed or PRS1 60 equivalent machine with less than 100 hours for around $100 please let me know.

Good luck finding an asv in decent condition for that.

Honestly......I made the decision to just buy "used". Yesterday I drove 2 hours to pick up a brand new resmed airsense 10 autoset. A woman with an insurance that fully covered her machine had decided that she wasnt even going to try the machine for a single night
There are two possible problems here.

1. If the woman is insurance-naive, she may later find her insurance company was renting-to-purchase. When she can't show compliance, they may demand the machine be returned.

2. The woman knows exactly what she is doing, has obtained the machine with plans to sell it and is committing insurance fraud.
Good point CG, The OP should cover her tracks. I would not register the MyAIr app or fill in the warranty card.
Or play nice
  • Call the seller and ask if she is sure it was not a renting-to-purchase with her insurance.

Excellent points! I would opt for "playing nice".

The seller and I talked for nearly an hour. Nice lady. Has a son the same age as my youngest. That was a question that did arise, because I am aware that some people do have to go through rental with their insurance. I never did. This isn't the first machine I have had. Lol. Just the first time buying a "used" one. I also worked for a law enforcement agency and for the court for quite some time. So the questions regarding theft and actual ownership were ones I was already prepared to ask.....hence why I didn't mention any of that in my post. I simply needed advice on buying a used machine and what to look out for on the machine itself. Thank you for your input.

I have no plans to register anything or use the app. I have airplane mode on and don't have any desire to be linked to the manufacturer or anyone else.
