Re: What start polls?
I don't know that i "love" polls. I think responses to polls are great for a quick, snapshot view of a group of opinions on a topic. When I take time to answer one, I find that the exercise can help to focus my mind on just what my opinions are on the topic--it makes me stop and think a moment,inste...

Re: OT - thyroid meds
I've been on Synthroid for some years now. Started at 88 mcg and was raised to 112 mcg within last 2 years when TSH test indicated it was necessary and I'd been noticing an increase in sluggishness. I've had no problems with it.

Re: What do people do with old CPAP gear?
If some place is cleaning these up for those that cant afford them I would prefer something like that. Your gear may not fit the criteria for this organization, but I"ll post the link for information anyway: https://www.sleepapnea.org/community/cpap-assistance-program/i-have-a-cpap-machine/ It can'...

Re: Loaner machine for titration has strong perfume odor
I had loaner equipment for the first month I was on therapy, and had the same experience with a strong perfume-cum-curry odour in the mask. I mentioned it right away to the RT when I was issued it, but she didn't actually take a whiff herself, so thought it was just the usual off-gassing of the sili...

Re: OT - Jar Opener
My quick tip is to tap the edge of the jar lid a couple of times with the back (dull) edge of a knife or the side of a heavy spoon. That usually releases the vacuum seal. Airwolf's house trick with the rubber bands is one my mother relied on, and then passed the jar off to me to open if she couldn't...

Did you remember to unlock the card before you returned it to the DreamStation?

Re: Pressure Sore with Resmed FX Quattro - for 2 months.. help!
i wasn't 'sized up' for the mask at all. The healthcare worker simply unboxed a 'medium' size mask and helped me put it on the said that it looks fine. Clearly, "looking fine" just doesn't work as a fitting technique. Here are some links to look at if you're DIY-inclined and want to check you have ...

Re: When to worry about centrals?
I am not sure what this means. "that's wonderful so you need to remember the big sticker that comes with all this cpap stuff...YMMV." In addition to what the others have posted, I believe the origin of the YMMV phrase is the disclaimer that began to appear years ago in advertisements for car gas co...

Re: How was your expereince with either the N20, Wisp or both?
I've used only the Wisp mask, so can't compare with others. However, some aspects I like about the headgear are no forehead straps; quite a stable seating of the mask, due to four adjustable straps to balance the positioning; the headgear doesn't shift much or slide up the back of the head; there's ...

Re: Devices/programs to help evaluate sleep status
Has anyone experience with the Sleepace RestOn device? Like the Withings Aura, Forum member RobK mentions using a Withings Aura on the first page of this thread. Thank you; I had read his post. The Aura is way out of my budget, so not in the cards for me now. To clarify, it is the Sleepace RestOn f...

Re: Devices/programs to help evaluate sleep status
Has anyone experience with the Sleepace RestOn device? Like the Withings Aura, there is a band that slips under the bedsheet; reports are generated through a phone/device app. A local dealer has them on sale, and I am tempted to purchase. I've read a mix of online reviews, but was wondering if anyon...

Hi, Zinnia, First, a short overview of aerophagia (swallowing air) and its resolution is available here: https://www.sleepapnea.org/treat/cpap-therapy/troubleshooting-guide-for-cpap-problems/aerophagia-causes-and-resolutions/ The cpaptalk archives are full of posts about aerophagia, so that is a pla...
