Feeling hot at night

Post by Chalkie » Sun Feb 28, 2021 7:34 am

Some nights when my sleep is especially bad I find I get pretty hot at night.

I think we can rule out Covid as the cause as it has been going on, quite randomly, for months and I have no other symptoms and have had several negative tests. I think it is more likely my body's attempt to regulate the extreme fatigue that sleep barely seems to relieve.

Is this overheating a known part of apnea when it is not properly controlled?

No it isn't, but too much heat can make cpap-sleeping less effective. Is there a way to cool your room, either clothes-wise, thermostat-wise or changing temps on your heated hose if you use one?

Are you validly (age-wise) premenopausal?

Hard to guess at more without more info.

Have you seen a doctor ro rule out other issues?

I have not talked to a doctor about it yet. As for premenopausal, I am a guy :)

Being winter here I wonder whether ambient temperature is a factor but I will experiment with cooler nightwear. I am in bdenzo wothdr\awal so wonder whether that is part of it.

I think you are right. It is probably not benzos per se. Although they are worsening overall fatigue so may be an indirect cause.

Thanks Pugsy for the link. I can tick most of those boxes.

Advice for anyone reading: if a doctor offers you benzos (Valium, Xanax, Klonopin etc): be aware of their highly addictive nature beyond the 2-4 week mark and that withdrawal can take many years and be hellish. Many doctors seem unaware of this. I always research any med now before sticking it in my body.

I second your advice. To anyone reading this, BE AWARE OF DOCTORS. Read carefully about all the treatments they propose. Bad doctors lie, omit the risks and prescribe unnecessary treatments (only $$$ matters to them). I personally use Medscape to validate doctors advice.

Who do you think writes Medscape - fairies? They're all doctors, and most are pretty good.

I don't have a thyroid, so occassionally I get hot during sleep/sweaty. What helps is, I use a 32oz spray bottle, I keep in the fridge, which cools my body down, specially during Tx summer months.

Like many couples, our sleep temperatures do not match.
The bullfrog is buried under a pile of blankets, while I uncover my legs to cool off.
I can generate a decent breeze with my flippers . . .

Sorry to read, your going through Benzo withdrawal. I battled benzo withdrawal for 3 solid years, back in 2003, getting slammed with every symptom. Burning body sensation was one of them. I would describe the sensation as feeling like sitting in the oven on broil. Wish you well friend.
