Question re: first night with ResMed Mirage FX mask

Post by Chalkie » Tue May 04, 2021 12:48 pm

I tried the Mirage FX nasal mask last night. First impressions were good - it was comfortable and I liked the look and feel of it.

However, OSCAR showed an AHI of 12.0 and time in a large leak at 28.8%, which was a big surprise as, subjectively, it did not seem to be obviously leaking.

I will try again tonight with it tighter.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for this mask?
Machine: Philips Respironics BiPAP C Series.
Mask: Respironics Comfort Gel Nasal Mask.

Pressure 12-18.

Find that mask on youtube and watch three or four videos about fitting and adjusting.

Overtightening is not the way to deal with leaks. This should come out in some of the videos.

If you post a OSCAR screenshot, members might be able to spot something off.

Not that you mean to sound at all patronising ;)

These are last night's stats. I don't understand how the leak rate could be so much lower but the AHI goes up. What is going on?

The Mirage FX Mask was the first and only mask I used until I decided to switch to my pillow mask with support from my doctor. The FX was kinda heavy on the face and often gave me alot of red marks and leaked often.
