How come you can buy a CPAP mask on-line w/out script?

That's because a cpap is FAR safer (in the life threatening scheme of things) than many other things. Say... diabetics self dosing with insulin.

There's nothing you can do with a cpap that will cause more harm than NOT HAVING IT. Or an apap.

You *could* hyperventilate yourself with a bilevel, but it's one of those things that any even slightly sane person would then say "oh, yeah, i shouldn't have changed THAT setting".

Except maybe hook it up to your shop air compressor at 150 psi with a 1 inch air hose and no regulator. Jim

Why are prescriptions required for CPAP masks? It's just what government bureaucrats sit in offices and do - write regulations and pat themselves on the back. They really don't have a clue.

I am a criminal defense attorney and will tell you that EVERY law is sensible. In CPAP's case they wish to prevent CPAPs from going to street users. Every city has a CPAP withdrawal clinic where people who are hooked on CPAPs can get help. CPAPs are as dangerous as marijuana and must be stopped as marijuana is per our attorney general. Remember our president thinks users of non prescribed CPAPs deserve the death penalty. CPAPs are a device of abuse.

Just as an FYI, in California, Xpaps are considered 'dangerous medical devices'. (no I'm not kidding). It's the only state in the country where you are potentially running the dark edge of the law selling used xpaps. FDA does not claim jurisdiction over used equipment.

In case anyones wondering about California. Our Liberal politicians here love laws that make law abiding citizens criminals. All the while protecting... never mind, I probably shouldn't get political here.... Bill

All CPAP Machines, Masks and Humidifiers I've seen in 510ks are listed as Class II, Prescription Required.

I will agree that California does have some outlandish laws, but there's a difference between protectionism laws that specifically benefit DME sales (xpaps & Masks) and those that protect people from themselves (seatbelts).

I promise not to tell the cops who led me to my life of crime when I am busted for buying masks without sending in the prescription I dont want deal with my last sleep doctor to get.
