Dizziness/vertigo and headaches after pressure increase

Post by DavidY » Sun Mar 18, 2018 2:21 pm

More than six weeks into CPAP, I am getting dizzy in the mornings the last few days after my sleep tech remotely increased my pressures to 12 and 18 on my APAP. Was at 10 and 16 since the beginning of trial. At the very beginning of my CPAP trial, I had immediate vertigo symptoms...my BPPV, a form of vertigo, has been largely dormant since I tend to keep trigger activities to a minimum.

Checked the reports...AHI was 3.x last night...this is on the high end of my range (1.5-4)...centrals has jumped to 2.x last night. For the past month, centrals were just above 0.

Been testing a new nasal mask (dreamwear with cushion)...after a hour or two, I switched back to my claustrophobic Eson2.

Averaging over 7.5 hours of "sleep"...still not restful sleep. Waking up quite often at nights. ..more so lately. Only 1 night with less than 4 hours per night on my APAP. I am not sure if I will be using my APAP tonight. :(

I will be talking to my sleep tech tomorrow about my symptoms.I am thinking about ask her to change my APAP settings back to the initial setting. Not exactly sure why changes were made a few days ago...I don't remember what she said to me.

Do a search on Youtube for the "Epley Maneuver" and try it. Perhaps it's just an inner ear issue with the high pressure.

I encourage you to post some Sleepyhead charts, so they can be looked at.

Your BP may be too low to begin with (to be on Cpap at a high setting) as Cpap lowers BP... something to ask your MD about.

I check my BP each morning....usually in the 130s. Although I have hypertension (taking BP pills), it was in the normal range ..117/7x this morning.

Ask then to try 11 and 17. Maybe then your vertigo will go away.
