Re: Caffeine...has anyone been able to quit?

I've been drinking coffee for over a decade. I've been interesting in quitting due to anxiety, and because I hate relying on drugs to function, but the withdrawals are absolutely brutal after just a day or two. I quit cold turkey and the withdrawal symptoms were brutal. Flu like symptoms, t...

Re: AHI under 5 acceptable; really?

I found this Mild Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome Should Not Be Treated

Basically it states that for moderate OSA CPAP treatment has no confirmed benefits.

Re: Over the counter sleep medicine use - good or no?

I take one ibuprofen before bed a few times a week. It apparently reduces inflammation that interferes with my sleep quality. The one pill enables me to sustain longer periods in deeper sleep and, oddly, usually eliminates the need to hit the bathroom during the night. I also use a CPAP. As your do...

Centrals and Antidepressants

Hi, I've been on CPAP for about two months now. My AHI were in the 2-4 area, most of them centrals according to Sleepyhead. I have also been on taking antidepressants for the last 5 years. Since my symptoms were not improving with CPAP I decided to try to stop antidepressants. I stopped gradually an...

Re: What to do during power outages

Tommorrow night there is a major rain storm and potential of wind gusts to 55-60 mph. Power outages are possible. In addition to apnea, I also have significant anxiety issues. Can someone please assure me that I will likely be ok without my cpap Get yourself an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) de...

Re: Melatonin

Hello, I recommend being careful with the dosage. The side effects are not well studied and understood, and even the effectiveness of melatonin supplements is not entirely clear. I'm no expert but did a cursory google search. See for example here: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/melatonin-dosag...

Re: Anyone Else Have Felt 'Crippled' By This Stupid Disorder?

But...has anyone else felt SO crippled, with or without the CPAP? I mean, I've been so tired I haven't even been able to hold down a job. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do? With this level of lack of functioning, sleep apnea has felt like a totally dehabilitating disorder. So why does it a...

Re: New CPAP User

Thanks for the replies so far. I definitely intend to continue both CPAP therapy and my anti depressants while waiting to talk to my psychiatrists.
I red many of those "how long it takes to improve" topics to know that it can take time to feel better. Just hope it will happen sometime.

Was looking into this, but have not really tried anything yet. You use just a plain cotton shirt?

Re: New CPAP User

Anti depressants (both SSRI and SNRI kind) are notorious for both messing with sleep architecture (sleep stages) and sleep quality as well as simply making us feel like a drugged up zombie during the day. . I was complaining to my shrink about sleepiness for a few years already. He changed my presc...

Re: New CPAP User

Are you using the available software to monitor your therapy in detail? https://sleep.tnet.com/equipment Have you made sure that leaks aren't an issue? How many hours of sleep are you getting? Are you waking often during the night for any reason? Do you take any medications of any kind ...if so wha...

Not really sure. She reviews the data every day and then adjusts the settings. Once she feel it is ok, I'll get the machine into my ownership.

New CPAP User

Hi all, I'm a new CPAP user - started CPAP therapy a week ago. I was diagnosed with OSA in September and my AHI was about 45. I have a Resmed Air Sense 10 and been experimenting with both full face and nasal masks. I'm still working with the Resmed technician on setting the right pressure. Right now...
