Sleeping pills

I was wondering if you’re allowed to take sleeping pills when doing the sleep study

Ask the doctor ordering the study.
Some formulations can skew the results.

My wife's doctor prescribed Ambien for her sleep study, so I'm guessing it shouldn't be a problem.

I have found that each doctor has his own opinions regarding sleeping pills. The sleep medicine doctor who ordered my latest test last month gave me my own option whether to take Ambien ( And I did choose to take a low dose Ambien) . And my internist (Who avoids treating apnea ) routinely writes refills for my occasional Ambien. I feel that if a patient needs a sleep aid to get asleep, it would be pointless to just toss and turn trying to sleep.

I took Ambien during my last two sleep tests. They were prescribed by my sleep clinic.

During my sleep study they told me that if I needed to take it to sleep that that was OK. That they need to see me sleep at least a certain amount of time and if I didn’t sleep they wouldn’t be able to see anything.
