Hello has any one ever seen particles like this floating in your Resmed water tank.I have been using the machine for 2 years .I clean it every week and use the So Clean every day.The particles are green in color and almost look like fibers. The particles are also inside the tubing inside of the machine .

Nope....don't recall ever seeing that sort of stuff floating around in the water or anyone else reporting that problem.

My first thought is that most likely the SoClean device is causing deterioration in the seals or gaskets in your humidifier. It's not benign at all. It will damage stuff.
But at least if we are to believe the claims....those pieces of your equipment floating around in the water are likely free of any germs.

Do you notice any "particles" on your machine's filter?

and use the So Clean every day
Could be the problem right there... it uses harmful ozone, and resmed does NOT recommend it's use.

Thank you for responding.I did not realize that the So Clean should not be used every day.Thats why I’m supposed to read the small print I guess.I did check the filter which I change every month and I don’t see anything that size getting through it.My warranty just ran out on it in August also.Called up Resmed directly and they had no clue and told me that I should call my doctor who I got the machine from.I will do that tomorrow.I would love to get the stuff analyzed to see what it is.Trying to figure how to do that should be more fun than getting the machine fixed or finding the cause.I will post any findings. Thanks for everyone’s help.

I have seen this many times in repairing CPAP's. I have a dreamstation blower chamber on my desk at the moment the same way. Something is deteriorating the foam; ozone, air freshener, ???

The more insulation, the quieter the machine.

In my humble opinion, the SoClean should NEVER be used, purchased, or donated.
My opinion of the company and their product is on a level with pond scum.
But that is just me.
Like my opinion matters.

I think they were asking what the insulation is made of, not why it's there.

Problem located. After getting no where with Resmed on the phone and my DR never hearing of the problem I decided to investigate myself.Just like MR WRX said above it was some type of insulation around the fan motor. When the fan would spin it chopped little pieces of the green insulation of and they would wing up in the humidifier tray ( and some in my lungs probably)
The insulation is removed and hopefully I don’t need it in there to do anything critical.

This is actually one of the added bonuses of using a humidifier.

A lot of particles when blown into the tank hit the water and then remain in the water. Had it not been for the water, they would have continued through the system into your lungs.

It’s likely that your soclean caused the breakdown of that foam so it went in the fan
