Just ordered my DreamWear FFM...

Post by salinas212 » Fri Apr 06, 2018 5:45 pm

Went online just now and found cpap.com is awaiting delivery of their DreamWear FFM's in all sizes and they're available immediately for pre-order so I pulled the trigger on the spot for a medium with return insurance included. Dunno if I'll get it cuz I still don't have a copy of my prescription to provide them. But I filled out their online prescription form and gave my Dr's name, address, phone and fax and checked the box requesting they contact him. No idea if that will work but I'm jazzed! And hopefully my pre-paying via CC will provide them some measure of motivation, however trivial/meaningless. Only time will tell I guess but maybe I'll get lucky... you guys too as I'll stop harping on this mask

**UPDATE** After a week of waiting I'm finally going to receive my Dreamwear FFM from cpap.com who now has them in stock. Turns out my pulmonologist at the VA is also professor of pulmonology sciences and critical care medicine at CU School of Medicine and only practices on Mondays at the Denver VA Hospital. Once I learned this I had cpap.com email him a copy of my prescription request at his CUDenver.edu address. He emailed me today saying he'd received it, filled it out and was having his admin asst fax it back to them. Hour and a half later cpap.com emailed me saying they had received my valid prescription from my physician. Finally, after much anticipation it looks like I'll get it. An hour after that I received an email from cpap.com saying it had shipped Doing my happy dance!

I have often wondered if the mask manufacturers release a little known virus into the cpap user population right before the release of a new mask so that everyone catches the "mask Utopia" virus and just HAS to have the latest and greatest.

Heck, I caught the virus for this one and I don't even use a full face mask.
I am still impatiently waiting for the nasal pillow Bleep that you stick to your nose.

At least cpap.com has free return insurance with the full mask package with this one. So a person can't really get hurt too bad on it with the insurance when they buy the package.

To the OP here....I hope this mask makes things easier for you and that you like it.
It did take me 3 nights of fiddling with the straps and stuff to get it close to making me happy. So if you like it in general...don't give up on it too soon. Sometimes the tiniest of adjustments in straps will make a huge impact on fit and feel and comfort.

As I've said previously if it doesn't work its no biggie... return insurance assures that much. Even if I were to lose every dime I'd be disappointed for a couple days but little else. I want it to work of course, even be great wouldn't break my heart but no big deal if it isn't. I'll simply move on to the next perceived good thing. I'll never know unless I personally try it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Everybody's gotta be somewhere doing something!

OMG...I am so pea green with envy that you might get to Beta test it.
I told Jason to tell the guy about me and that I would be a really, really good Beta tester for it.  Heck, I would even pay shipping. I want to try it so badly I can taste it.

Good attitude to have and pretty much mimics mine. You never learn if you don't try.
Now sometimes all I learn is "what a bad idea that was" but I always learn something.
And yes....the return insurance helps so that we don't have to break the bank and can then try the next latest and greatest but you know what I did back when I bought masks that I couldn't return (long time ago before so many had the free insurance)...the money I spent didn't go to waste and the mask didn't either. I always found someone who loved what I hated...sometimes they got it for free and sometimes at a steep discount and sometimes we swapped because they hated something I loved..
Heck, one time I got 4 pairs of the cutest homemade pierced earrings out of the deal.

**UPDATE** Got the new DreamWearFFM today and swatted all the Friday the 13th vibes away and set about fitting it. Initial impression is good/positive. Love how much less of it there is than my F20FFM! Wish the top-mounted friction fit clip hose-release was a little easier to release but other than that all's well although I haven't slept in it yet so I'll know more tomorrow. Having learned from my initial mask that silicone does seem to take a set albeit small. Additionally the fabric straps do seem to loosen a smidge over time. Once I got my initial F20FFM dialed in size-wise I didn't have to touch it again for over 2 months. But then it was a simple matter of snugging all 4 straps a small, but equal amount and I was perfectly dialed in again. Armed with that knowledge I adjusted this one just ever-so slightly more snug initially than what might otherwise be my 'druthers.' To help accelerate it taking that small compliant facial set and expedite the fabric relaxing. Not so much that its uncomfy or pressing into my face as just a hair tighter than I would go for otherwise given my recent experience. I'll spend an hour or so watching tv while snapping/unsnapping that top-mounted hose connection to see if it loosens up a bit. Maybe just a kiss of ScotchBrite pad if it proves stubborn.
