Post Link, Not Images

Post by ChicagoGranny » Wed Feb 07, 2018 7:49 pm

I've quit asking people to post images here. Instead, post the imgur.com link(s).

So many newbies have trouble sizing the images, and some post lots of images which makes the thread take up too many pages for my taste.

It's so easy to right click on a link and open the image(s) in new tab(s). In fact, the browser I am using will open the image in a new tab with one left click.

Try it: https://tinyurl.com/https-www-granny-nude

What do you think?

I agree that posting links helps eliminate some of the errors people make. By the way, I like the picture in the link.

I like embedded images for several reasons most of which means less work for me because of less screens that I have to keep referring to. It's just easier for me to see the image and text at the same time but it isn't critical. It's easier than bouncing back and forth....at least for me.

On my list of things to do is fix up a more user friendly (with newbies in mind) way of posting the images or links.
But I prefer images embedded myself. Always have and most likely always will. It's just makes my work a bit easier and we all know I am all about easier.
When someone gives me 5 links to 5 report images...there's a good chance I won't look at any or all of them.
If they put the 5 images right in front of me...I will for sure look and more likely make a comment.

Work the :!: Pugsy magic :!: - fix it so Sleepyhead accounts are in the cloud, and you can access the data and reports directly - zoom in to wave form level, etc.

I will get right on that....right after I get my crystal ball fixed.

I also need to rework my tutorial but man...that's like tackling the junk room in my house. Where the hell do I start.
Mentally I just can't seem to get the gears to fire up.

nothing is in a cloud. everything you see on the internet is on a website somewhere.

It cracks me up, the way they came up with this cloud business. i have my website on a server with unlimited storage. the same people offer me free limited storage on the cloud. this means i could take some of my data and put it on another part of their server and pretend its in the air. LOL....

Actually, everything we see on the internet, including things in the cloud, is on servers.

When I started working in GIS, there were companies pushing to sell my bosses on off-site storage. Later on, we heard of some of their customers having to start over
after years of work, due to any number of things that (might) happen
when you trust your data to a stranger. Security starts at home.
I only used Photobucket :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: for a very few images;
So when they went into the extortion racket, I lost nothing valuable.

my website is on a host server and i post my pictures here from it. at home i have (2) 3 TB external hard drives with all of my stuff baked up twice. I keep an exact copy of my website on both of them. so if something catastrophic happens I haven't lost a thing.

unfortunately the future leaders of our country that eat tidepods and the all-you-can-eat cotton candy in the attic probably think the stuff is on a cloud out there somewhere.

450 for 30 minutes should take care of you. Waste of energy to do it twice.
