Re: Medmerchant and humidifiers

Also after reading about humidifiers on here I'm a little concerned no one ever mentioned it to me. Do people use them down south? I live in Georgia and the idea of making the air more humid here seemed funny, but I'm concerned I've been using CPAP for 5 years and always attributed sinus issues wit...

Re: List Admin Question

That little box to the left of the subject line used to disappear once I read the most recent posts on the thread and returned to the home list page. It doesn't do that anymore for me. Does it for the rest of you? It does for me. Shows up unread post, takes me directly to the unread post, I go read...

Re: List Admin Question

I'm fairly new, but how do you tell if you have read a message? Every time I come into the blog I just look down the list and read the ones I think are new.... sorry if this has been repeated, but I'd appreciate a reply.... This one I just figured out yesterday myself. Look on the left side of the ...

Re: changing pressure range on an APAP

Forgot to add if you could get a copy of your titration study results that would indicate where the general area of the sweet spot would be, or ask the doctor or his nurse. Or you can use the machine and it will give you an idea. Most people want to narrow it as much as possible yet still have comfo...

Re: changing pressure range on an APAP

It is my understanding that the 4-20 range is somewhat the generic range. You may or may not find the 4 a little low to start off with just for comfort sake. In my CPAP titration study last night I was started off at 5 and I quickly realized that I would be more comfortable with more of a ramp. The ...

Re: Last night's Titration not Heaven but not.......

It is simple physics...a nasal pillow has less of an area to seal around than a nasal cushion or full face cushion. JeffH This was exactly what I thought when I was researching things. Plus I already knew that I had a problem even with my eyeglasses being on my nose for any length of time. Why not ...

Last night's Titration not Heaven but not.......

Another newbie here and just wanted to comment on how last night's titration sleep study went. While it wasn't as good of an experience as some have reported having, it wasn't as bad as some have had either. I had trouble going to sleep just like I did with the diagnostic study. Only numbers that I ...

Re: Not a fun night!

Julie, have you looked into the air coolers? I I have, but... They're pretty expensive. Not sure how big they are. And I've been told by several people that they aren't very effective. I used air cooler when I lived in Las Vegas NV a few years ago when the A/C died in latter part of June. Borrowed ...

Re: CPAP Full masks and Facial Hair

[quote="BlackSpinner"] About these sleep studies in uncomfortable labs with annoying techies. Mine was done at home - I was given a belt and set of thingies to wear and told to bring it back the next day. In 2 weeks I get to do my titration test and the only difference is that I get to use my mask. ...

Re: Call For Feedback: Puresleep.com Dental Device

So, PLEASE, someone tell me how THIS is supposed to help me get better quality sleep?!?!?!? I bought one of these Pure-Sleep things out of despiration. If it helps at all, then it's worth the $60 to try. It might help you snore less. It might not. It will not treat your sleep apnea. Did you by chan...

Re: Recovery from Neck surgery

I'm reading all the responses to the original post and am wondering if the disc problems are a contributor to apnea/hypopnea? I also had C4 & 5 herniated yrs. ago and have constant cracking/discomfort/swelling and had wondered if the inflammation actually was obstructing my airway, but that I'd got...

Re: Recovery from Neck surgery

I had C 4 and C 5 vertebrae removed completely and replaced with donor bone and the titanium brace. C4 and 5 were pushing on the spinal cord. Incision was also about 3 to 4 inches but up higher more near my jawline. Yep, they do move stuff around and it takes a while for those problems to resolve. I...

Re: Another Newbie to the ranks of hoseheads

Well, I didn't go avator hunting. I went to the DME place instead. Decided I didn't want to wait till tomorrow. I wanted to know how badly they would lie to me and lie to me they did. Told me first that insurance wouldn't pay for APAP instead of CPAP and the difference in price was about 3 times. I ...

Re: Another Newbie to the ranks of hoseheads

The quietest one is the Resmed and it also shows daily AHI's on the LED; but the M Series isn't much louder, and on the software it shows both Flow Rate and Vibratory Snores which you don't get on the Resmed. So, it's a toss-up. Thank you Joy. This is the type of information that I need clarificati...
