Help Understanding Sleepyhead
Can anyone give me a quick tutorial on sleepyhead? What am I looking at/for? How do I use the best data? I have used the data from his oximter and it's basic - I like sleepyhead in that it gives HR highs etc - his has gone up to 226 at night. (Last night was decent). We met with a sleep center Dr th...

Re: Few Questions
I couldn't find the old post (although I did see where you can find it) -
But my question is different -- are these worth bringing to his C-Pap appointment or not - will it cause confusion or do I just go by the sleep study?
(He's 10, but the way).

Few Questions
My son uses a oximeter cms50f at night. We've had various readings, some were "normal" and some have been off the charts. Last nights report was a little crazy, but it did come off his finger twice, so that's why artifact is so high. Also same with another night, I changed fingers and hands, trying ...

Re: Oximeter--- circulation
I've done different hands and fingers and the readings are usually the same... Haven't done the toe or ear though.

Oximeter--- circulation
I'm curious as to how the oximeter really works - if you have poor circulation, will it not give accurate results? My son's O2 has been checked on many machines and it goes very low, a lot. yesterday a nurse from the state came and did vitals and it was 61, but went up to 71. His Dr is ordering supp...

Re: Low Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) Data Accuracy
A couple of questions: How old is your son? You said that his sleep study showed mild apnea. Do you know what his AHI was? Do you know if his events were obstructive or central? You mention that during the sleep study the tech woke your son up multiple times. Why did the tech wake up your son? Were...

Re: Low Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) Data Accuracy
The oxygen saturation drops look to be REM-related. However, one is unable to determine their cause with the limited information provided. If they are due to alveolar hypoventilation then CPAP will probable not help, and BiPAP should be employed. Is there a way to see if it's alveolar hypoventilati...

Re: Low Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) Data Accuracy
Oh - and I think there was so much artifact because I would take it off and put it on other fingers to see if it was low on all of them -- his O2 wouldn't go up for what seemed forever during some of the instances.

Re: Low Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) Data Accuracy
VERY similar to Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome but it's ROHHAD: Rapid-onset obesity with hypothalamic dysfunction, hypoventilation and autonomic dysregulation -- the biggest difference is the age and rapid-onset obesity. https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/diseases/10407/rohhad There are ...

Re: Low Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) Data Accuracy
I have so many reports -- they mostly look similar, although a few nights had fewer events. He had the same drop at 8 while at the hospital, but it's always "interesting" - For ten minutes it was between 70-80. This is the report I sent to Dr first when he said he was concerned but the sleep center ...

Re: Low Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) Data Accuracy
I also told him it happens all the time, in the hospital and everywhere. We even had a pulmonologist say that it was impossible to drop that low (70) and not show signs except out of breath. He did his own "trial" having him run down the hall and it said 76 and he blamed constriction on vessels or s...

Low Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) Data Accuracy
My son is being investigated for a condition that is often fatal - these kids often die from high CO2 because they stop breathing. He has all of the symptoms of this, but his last sleep study a year ago showed mild apnea. (He was woken many times during the night by the tech I'm not even sure how th...
