When cats bite the xPAP climate line tubing

Post by Cpapian » Wed Sep 05, 2018 9:37 pm

Unfortunate for sure. Just a small little hole. Can hear a little whistle of air escaping.

Can it be fixed? Has anybody tried to effect a repair on a hose with success?

Most folks use some tape.

Dab of silicone sealant would work.

Duct tape....man's cure for everything and anything broken.
I actually prefer the Gorilla tape myself....always have a couple of rolls of it laying around for whatever.

Thanks. Good to know. Last time I 'll forget to feed them.

Duct tape works great. A thick hose cozy would probably help, particularly if you have young cats. Mine don't threaten the tube any longer - they just fight over who gets to sleep on it.

Duct tape... a little dab will do ya!

And it's not under much pressure at ALL.

Get a hose cozy. My cat lost interest after the hose cozy was in place.

X2 for Gorilla tape. Great stuff.

But I would either electrify the tube or get rid of the cat.

BTDT, my first tube was practically held together with duct tape before it got replaced; my mighty huntress made multiple attempted to wrestle the critter down. I found that cutting a *thin* strip of tape that fits into the groove of the coil works best, but your mileage may vary.

ETA: our sponsor sells a nylon zip-on hose cover from ResMed for their slimline/ClimateLine hose, my cats haven't touched my hoses since I got it. Bonus, it greatly reduces/eliminates that annoying rubbing noise from dragging the hose across whatever management system you choose (in my case it's my headboard).

If I saw her do it maybe, but she would be so so so offended. And after all, I did forget to feed her. They used to do CPR on me to wake me up, but alas, too old for that now.

The duct tape works so all is well.

Only if you can get the *hose* to bite the cat.

Hello all, new member :)

My cat bit several holes in both my hoses, one of those is heated. I tried duct tape, didn't get a decent seal. I tried electricians tape, again not a good seal. I then tried gorilla tape. I found that tape not flexible. I then tried white plumber's tape, it was too thin and deteriorated. I gave up for a while after trying a combination of electricians and duct tape. Hose again was not very flexible and a distinct fwee sound was happening.

About a month later, my water pipe to my toilet had a pinhole leak and my friendly neighbourhood Home Hardware store manager directed me to a flexible, air tight, water tight seal. The trick is to pull the tape tightly and make sure to do a decent overlap. I decided to also use this Magic Wrap tape on one of my hoses. Holy crap, it worked! So I have now wrapped both hoses and have lots of tape left over. It's been a few weeks, so it isn't drying out or splitting.

I won't lie. Wrapping the hose takes time and patience and you really need to pull it tight. Once you start and see the tension required, you will get it done. This is so safe. No fumes, no glue, no extra adhesive.

Now my pressure is restored and no more "fweeeeeeeee" :)
