My son uses a oximeter cms50f at night. We've had various readings, some were "normal" and some have been off the charts.
Last nights report was a little crazy, but it did come off his finger twice, so that's why artifact is so high. Also same with another night, I changed fingers and hands, trying to see if it would make a difference.
He's had sleep test which showed mild apnea, but my concern is that it's not every night and may get dismissed.
During the day his O2 drops, too and we even had a nurse with the sate come the other day to do stats and his O2 was 61, but went up to 71. She said that he needs oxygen asap and to tell his dr or she would call and to make sure to tell him she works for the state (not sure how that makes a difference).
He's getting oxygen ordered or at least requested- he's had BP issues (extreme highs and lows: 186/164 and 57/43) and severe amnesia events. I'm hoping oxygen will help --
But my questions - we have an appointment with sleep medicine next week to go over need for c-pap. Are these reports enough to bring or would it cause confusion? Do they show concern at all?
(I'm attaching a few to show the differences in them).

Re: Few Questions
You have posted the same note previously (week or so ago?) and had replies to it... what happened?
FWIW the nurse may know zip about apnea, how Cpap works, whether or not 02 is actually needed (I doubt that because very few people on Cpap do need it), or whether testing 02 while he's awake has any bearing on what happens when asleep, and whether he's on Cpap at those times is a mystery and those things need to be taken into account one at a time before basing anything on what she said.
You have not said how old your son is - a 10 yr old or a 50 yr old... and it would help to know as well. He may well not need supplmental 02 at all, espcially once he's on Cpap, if in fact he needs to be on it.

Re: Few Questions
I couldn't find the old post (although I did see where you can find it) -
But my question is different -- are these worth bringing to his C-Pap appointment or not - will it cause confusion or do I just go by the sleep study?
(He's 10, but the way).

That's your old note + replies.
Bring the stuff, but also bring the device, or at least the specs of it so the tech/MD will know what you used. Don't worry about confusion because if that confuses them they shouldn't be in business!
You can always find your notes (best to stick to one thread of course) by clicking on your member profile (your name) and do a 'search user's posts'.

Re: Few Questions
Keep in mind that you are in the Business of keeping your son healthy. As such, you are the BOSS and hire medical professionals to help. They work for you.
Bring your reports and bring your device. If you have lots and lots of data, limit to the last week's worth. Accuracy questions can be resolved by having the doctor check your device with the one they use.
Outline your questions. Ask the most critical ones first and understand that you may not be able to get to all your questions.
I have a recording App on my phone (Voice Recorder) and ask the physician to give me a brief synopsis of the visit for review later.
Good luck and expect a productive meeting.
