I had a successful night last night. I used the Neti Pot about two hours before bed instead of just before or in the middle of the night. No congestion at all!!! Yay!!

Thank you everyone for your ideas and suggestions!!!

Laurie

Good topic! I've noticed that one side clogs, and when I sleep on the other side, it seems to unclog. Now, I know about the nasal cycle. Earl

I think it also has to do with pressure on certain parts of the face. I sometimes tinker with my pillow or put my hand under the right part of my face and it seems to speed the process up. My nostril will get a bit of a tingling or burning feeling and then it will unblock. However, the downhill nostril sometimes decides it's time for it to plug up.
I don't actually use CPAP but I found this site via Google when searching for my symptoms and yours is EXACTLY the same as mine. I get the burning and tingling sensation too, and one nostril changes sides. I had awful sleep last night due to this, it even entered my dreams, my head is pounding now due to bad breathing while sleeping. I have just tried some nasal spray but I can't feel if it sprayed or not, my nostril is so blocked.

I wondered, can being really overweight add to this problem of nostril blockage ? Reason I ask is because I have put on 2 stone very fast, and am morbidly obsese, although I have suffered with this nostril problem for a while I don't seem to remember it happening when I was slimmer (I yo yo my weight). If it does, then I am unsure why or how. I can understand apnea, but a blocked nostril being caused by weight doesn't make much sense.

I have snored my wife out of the room. I checked with my doctor. They had me do an at home sleep study. I received a call to go back in for a cpcp device with no other information. I feel like I don't have any info and I don't even know that I want a cpap device.

My right nostril is almost always closed so that I can't breath through my nose alone at any time during the day. What can I look at to get nose breathing back as an option without trying this cpap? I also have a crazy odd uvula which I worry is part of the issue.

I feel like the cpap is just being provided as the solution because that easy and typical and not because it is necessarily best for me.

Without the data from the study it is difficult to comment in a meaningful way...

You need to get a copy of your sleep study and a copy of the prescription for your machine.

You might want to start a new thread devoted to just your discussion. It's going to get lost in this old thread.

I had a pair of clogs once.
Stepped on a Lego and twisted my ankle.
