Re: Operating a CPAP in a DRY climate

The Dreamstation has a specified operating humidity of 15-95%. The humidity here gets down to the single digits, especially in late spring - early summer. Should I get a humidifier for my room? What do you other desert dwellers do? Definitely get a humidifier. Start it running a couple hours before...

Re: Not feeling the pressure

Hi CPAPers, When I wear my mask and turn on the machine I feel the pressure for a few minutes then I don't. When I feel pressure, it's like I'm exhaling against resistance. When I don't, it's just the lack of resistance. It's like the machine lowers the pressure after a 5 minutes or so. This is a n...

Re: Best way to buy bleep

Looks like their web site is https://sleeplay.com. Looks like a crazy idea to me. Going to wander around with that thing glued to your face if you get up for a bit, or use new pads constantly? There are also no reviews on the site at the moment... make of that what you will.

Re: A night without CPAP

I've been under the impression that if you are used to CPAP and stop suddenly, you have an increased chance of cardiac events. This could be inaccurate, but maybe check into it before doing experiments.

Re: Half of my ClimateLine tubing hoses have been twisted

In my year or so on CPAP, my original and third ClimateLine heated tubing hoses have been fine. But the second and fourth have been twisted with a mind of their own, and for the money I'm paying for the things, that's disappointing. This isn't a standard "hose management" issue. My mask fits fine, ...

Re: Back of strap slipping upward

I am using the Philips DreamWear Under the nose nasal mask. Sometimes during the sleep cycle, while on my right side, the back straps move upward from where they were first placed. My nasal pillow is still in place, which is good, however is there something I can do to keep the back straps in their...

Re: Quick Pressure Question

The algorithm used is influenced by the maximum pressure. No, the algo is not influenced by the max pressure setting, it is simply *capped* by the max pressure setting. the max, and for that matter, the min, has nothing at all to do with the algorithm. The min pressure is where it just starts makin...

Re: Quick Pressure Question

The algorithm used is influenced by the maximum pressure. I'd increase it, maybe a bit less than 20... perhaps 16, and see if that doesn't help a bit and maybe cover some of those events. At 20, it might feel a bit aggressive, and it could cause more events. However, you are doing well, so you don't...

It's clear you aren't getting enough oxygen, anyhow.

Re: Feeling heartbeat through my mask

I'm having a hard time getting used to my CPAP. I've tried several masks and have finally found a couple that aren't as bad as the others. Infact, at first I'm like okay this feels weird but I can get used to it and get to sleep. Then I start feeling my heartbeat in my mask. Similar to when I wear ...

Re: CPAP Water?

Distilled water isn't really necessary. Well filtered tap water is fine. Distilled is only recommended in the U.S., probably because our tap water varies so widely. You definitely don't need specifically bottled CPAP water. If your local water is very hard, buy distilled at your earliest opportunity.

Re: Just got my CPAP and having issues.

Are you feeling air starved? That was my difficulty starting CPAP, because my minimum pressure was too low. Your chart is showing a minimum of 4cmH2O. I would be gasping for air. 12 is about the lowest I can tolerate. Something to experiment with, anyhow.

Unless you know the root cause of your respiratory issue, you might also get a covid test if you haven't already... apoxia is a symptom, and it is sometimes the only symptom.

I'd be worried about the no return policy due to covid -19. That being the case, going through your insurance might offer some protection.
