Run AirMini on Omni 20+ Battery

Post by Mr-Sleepy-Oak » Fri Oct 20, 2023 6:46 pm

I want to try running my airmini on an omni 20+ battery. (https://www.omnicharge.co/products/omni ... 7055744018)

1. What DC cord do I need to buy?
2. How many nights will I get?
3. Any better solution?

This is a battery with 5 volt output and the AirMini runs on 24v. Going to take more than a cable. I use this battery: New Pilot-24 Lite CPAP Battery/Backup Power Supply for ResMed AirMini and AirSense 10 Pap Devices https://a.co/d/eOiJJnn

5v? This is 5-25V DC and much cheaper than yours. And… has ac input when necessary.

I'd missed the a/c and DC barrel outputs. Can't tell if that DC output is the right size and configurable to work with the AirMini adapter cable I have for the Pilot-24. Might buy it to find out though.

Here's a cable that would work. The one I got from Mediastorm also has an adapter for the AirMini power supply to charge the battery, but I'm not seeing that available at the moment. CASIMY DC 24V Power Cord Converter Cable DC Port 5.5 x 2.1mm/2.5mm Male Compatible with ResMed AirMini Plug AutoSet Travel CPAP Machine Charging Cable for 24V Battery Backup Power Station Power Bank https://a.co/d/8xjLI9Y

My cable with the charger adapter came with the battery kit, may not be available separately.

Rough guess, this will run the AirMini for about 10 hours. Airmini draws about 6.3w with peaks around 10w, battery rated 71wh. It should be good for one night sleep, anyhow.

I ended up buying the Omnicharge Mobile 25,600mAh, 92Wh https://www.omnicharge.co/products/omni-mobile-25600
and the Medistrom ResMed AirSense 11 Adapter Kit for Pilot-24 Lite Battery, which fits the airmini although they are not publicizing it. https://www.amazon.com/ResMed-AirSense- ... 82&sr=8-24

I have the kit for the Airsense 11, and I could swear I tested when I got it and found it is not compatible with the AirMini kit, which I already had. The connectors look the same. I'll double check.

Okay, the cable for the Airsense 11 will power the AirMini, but not the other way around, so you should be good. The A11 receptacle has an extra little divot so that the AirMini power supply, which would be insufficient, can't be plugged into it.

So I got a Omni 20+ Battery. My intention isn't to use it as anything more than a backup battery, so run time isn't important to me in general, but for what it's worth, it looks like the Airmini is drawing about 6 w during exhalation, and 10w during inhalation, so probably averaging around 8w, so I'd guess more like 9 hours at best. Still enough for a night's sleep. Next time I have a call to use the Airmini, I may see what happens. Won't be until mid-December though unless I do something to get kicked to the couch in the meantime. :) One tip... you'll need to set the DC output amps a bit higher than the 24v at 0.83amps the power supply for the airmini shows. I set it at 1.2 amps and it was stable, less than that and it would start up and reboot after it started blowing.
