Using CPAP for 8 Years - Always Getting Up Tired
I have been using CPAP for past 8 years but I always get up tired. Currently I have ResMed 10 Autoset. I recently installed SleepyHead but I don't understand the meaning of the numbers and graphs. Would someone be able to help me understand them? I read the online help but still don't get it.
Which data should I post here from SleepyHead? Statistics, Daily, Overview?
My Auto pressure ranges between 8 and 14. BTW the sleep doctor never told me to use APAP machine. I thought the pressure during the night cannot be constant because it depends on our sleeping position and etc. The doctor told me APAP is only required for specific type of sleep disorder. Is this true? Or anyone can be using APAP over CPAP?

i'm sorry to say it, but your doctor lied to you. in my estimation, apap is always better for the individual, simply because it can be adjusted to HELP the individual. we are all different. my sleep is not the same as yours. what works for me may not work for thee. and vice versa.happyguardian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 7:18 pmI have been using CPAP for past 8 years but I always get up tired. see what palerider has already said as a starting point. see also the links he has in his signature. this will tell you how to organize your sleepyhead charts and how to post them here.
you don't have to understand sleepyhead right now. i've been on this cpap journey for three years and i have NO IDEA how to interpret a chart. and i don't need to. i just know how to post the info here on the forum so that the experts can give me helpful advice.
good luck!

Your sleep doctor is a good example of why this forum exists... because there's so much incompetence out there.happyguardian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 7:18 pmBTW the sleep doctor never told me to use APAP machine. You're right, the doctor is wrong about use of an APAP... you may need more pressure during REM cycles, and most people need more pressure if they're sleeping on their back.

I think I'd try turning your EPR setting down by one. It looks pretty good.happyguardian wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 8:14 pmSo here is some screenshots of my charts. Thank you so much for helping. God bless you.

What equipment and settings were you using before you acquired this APAP? (through the previous eight years)
Did your previous equipment collect data and did you use software to monitor your therapy?
How much sleep are you averaging every night? Five, six or even seven hours may not be enough.
Have you tried different settings (including straight pressure) or have you been using the same settings all the way through?
I disagree with your doctor, but on the other hand, not everyone does better with straight pressures and not everyone has optimal therapy with ranges of pressures. Everyone should at least have an APAP to determine which mode and settings work better for them. APAPs can always be set to straight pressures. Same thing with the options like EPR (exhale relief) and humidity settings. Different settings should be tried, including turning them off.
For whatever reason, you're having a number of CAs (which may or may not be actual Centrals). So, keep an eye on them to see if some settings help reduce their numbers. If you're going to continue to use ranges of pressures, take note of where your pressure is when the events occur.........and when they DON'T.

There's not a lot to be read... unless you have specific questions. It shows you're doing pretty good, but might benefit from changes I already suggested.happyguardian wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 9:46 pmBumping up.
