Re: Chin strap for full face masks

How does the F30 compare to the Dreamwear Full Face mask? Is the difference in the nasal part but rest around the mouth pretty much the same as the Dreamwear? Also I seem to be allergic to the silicone. Every mask that I've tried except the P10 I need to also add a mask liner to. I am continually ge...

Re: Chin strap for full face masks

I too have been looking for a good solution for a chin strap. I've tried at least 10-12 different masks. Some pillows, nasal and full face masks. I'm assuming it's because of high pressure but every time I try any mask including a full face mask without a chin strap my mouth gets so dry very quickly...

Re: Resmed Astral

You don't want the Astral. As others have said, not only is it highly expensive, it is a continual monthly rental. You never pay it off. You will be paying a high monthly cost for the life of the machine. And you're right, it is a BiLevel machine. It's mostly prescribed for people with Neuromuscular...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Another interesting thing is that I'm actually dreaming again sometimes. It had been years since I was dreaming before the BiPap AVAPS. So I guess that means that I'm going into the various sleep cycles now. It means your sleep is being interrupted during your dreams. The brain doesn't form memorie...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

It's been a while since I updated this thread. I ended up with Shingles for a while and other health issues. In January, I got a DreamStation BiPap AVAPS. It's a good machine. I think the Sleep Technician did a good job finding the right settings for me. I don't have a desire to change them. I still...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Is there a different forum with more people that use a BiLevel device for ventilation purposes? I just want to learn all I can.

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Since my doctor set the Tidal Volume at 470 for the new machine, it's easy to see that's too low. I can also see the minute ventilation is too low and often the Respiratory Rate as well. I can understand that its' due to the muscle disease and weakening diaphragm, possibly chest wall muscles too. Wh...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Hi Matt, Thanks for the input. Both Raisedfist and you have recommended the PR BiPap Pro over the Resmed ST-A. Should I just go ahead and buy it and not try the ST-A, just cancel that even though insurance will pay for most of the cost? I'm fed up with DME's right now and my doctor doesn't respond t...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Raisedfist, I noticed that you posted this on another thread: "PR BiPAP AVAPS is a non-invasive ventilator...the machine auto-adjusts when AVAPS is enabled but to target an average tidal volume. Treating OSA is not the primary intention and the machine will not respond to OSA events." I guess I'm co...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

I don't think the DreamStation BiPAP AVAPS works with SleepyHead yet, but you can get Encore Pro 2 from Apnea Board for free. It's not nearly as good as SleepyHead, but it does show all the basic data such as leak rate, respiratory rate, tidal volume, AHI data, etc,. The ResMed ST-A does work well ...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Thanks for the input. I have a lot to think about. One last question for now. I was just getting ready to send a MyChart message to my doctor asking for his input. If he wants the DreamStation BiPap AVAPS then to specifically request it on the prescription. The question is, for that machine, I heard...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

I have not used an AVS machine. That said, my DME let me swap from a Dreamstation to an Aircurve when I was having issues adapting from my S9 to a DS. As long as it was within 30 days, they were very cool about it. The question here: How did you like the product you used in the lab? If it was great...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

At this point I'm not sure what to do about knowing the ST-A will be coming in probably within a week. It was special ordered by the DME. This is the wording on my sleep study: This AVAPS titration study showed adequate control of OSA and CSA with AVAPS using a Respironics unit with the following se...

Re: AVAPS vs Bilevel and which machine is best

Thanks so much for the response. I stumbled upon that YouTube video about an hour before I posted the question. Those videos showed me how little I know. I’m used to the ResMed and like the Easy-Breathe technology, so I specifically took my prescription to Apria where I knew I would get a ResMed mac...
