Re: New to CPAP
The whole night -- that's great! Also, you have a fine spirit of experimentation as well as a good dose of patience, and these characteristics will help you reach your goal of restful and healthy sleep.

good job, you!mp6617 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 11:24 amI plan at some point in the near future to try a nasal mask and chin strap. I'm really not concerned about it pulling my jaw back. I might buy the chin strap first and see what happens. Thanks for the heads up though.
I had a victory last night. Slept the entire night with my CPAP and actually got some sleep.
and thanks for posting your good news in that thread above.

I’m a mouth breather myself. I can’t use the full face that covers my nose and mouth. I do use the Dreamwear Here’s a link for example

I just saw that the F20 was used.
Re: New to CPAP
More good news! I been sleeping most of the night every night with my cpap since I turned the ramp time off and got my medium mask back out. I have two more coming from Amazon today. I haven't felt as tired as I did before. My eyes don't look so exhausted. I went to bed around 4ish and was awake at 8:30 and felt rested. Brain feels more alert too.

Re: New to CPAP
Yes.
I may have to switch to a full face mask, and make changes to the hose temp and humidity, but I absolutely do.

Re: New to CPAP
how much do you adjust those temps? does it help? i have a sinus infection and it seems to be making it harder to breathe with my copd.

Re: New to CPAP
The adjustments are trial and error - with an upper airway respiratory infection doctors often recommend humidifying the room air, so it makes sense to me to add humidity. If the changes I make hadn't helped me, I wouldn't have replied to your question.
That said, I recommend you ask your doctors, since you're dealing with COPD and a sinus infection.
What you need - for comfort - and what you need for health, may be very different from what I need.
I haven't any sinus infections in ages -- the last was long before I ever heard of CPAP therapy. And my lungs are healthy.

Re: New to CPAP
Look, my AHI was 75! Like you and probably most of us, the first few weeks of therapy were frustrating to say the least. I started with full face masks. I quickly shut the ramp feature off.
Relatively early on, I learned to love the p10 minimalist mask. And for several years now, I have been using the n30i nasal mask.
Since settling on the p10 back in 2014, my nightly AHI is virtually always less than 1.0. And another oddity... in the now 9 years of using nasal masks, I have not had a stuffy nose that I could not clear up in time to have a good night. So keep experimenting!
