Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Here is a System one Foam removal Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQnJAF3bm98 I Have not removed the foam in mine but it looks easy enough. I don't see where the Foam is actually in the airflow Path in the video but it must be or why the need to recall. I found this info online "The whole bo...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

P.S. You should make the second claim on your machine. Always a good idea to have a backup. Also, if eligible, there is now a prioritization menu on the Philips recall web site that may allow you accelerate delivery of your replacement units. I just stumbled on to the so called prioritization optio...

Re: Chin Strap recommendations please

Chin straps can push in your lower jaw making obstruction worse. Can also aggrevate any TMJ issues. What do you specifically want to accomplish with chin strap? Likely better things to try than chin strap. I want to take it backpacking. Extremely light weight (like grams) and extremely compact is i...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

The DS1s and DS2s are both 12 volt machines . I own two DS1s and the manual and bottom panel on the machine clearly state 12 volts. They run directly off of my 12 volt batteries without any conversion. Per the DS2 manual it uses the same cable to run directly off of a 12 volt system. The proprietar...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Thanks. I don't have the machine yet (amazingly) but I believe DS1 AND DS2 are both 15 volt machines. The standard these days seems to be 15V or 24V. Anyhow I'll find out IF I ever get it. I was in several of the high risk groups including first responder and its been over a year. I've been contacte...

Re: Chin Strap recommendations please

I've been using cpap for 20 years and I want to try a chinstrap for reasons not mentioned in my post. So if anyone can give me recommendations for a chinstrap I would appreciate the information.

Chin Strap recommendations please

I've recently bought an Airfit P10 nasal pillow and I'm trying to transition to using it. For decades I've been using a full face mask and I wanted to try something lighter with a lower leak rate. Anyhow, I love the P10 except that I wake up several times each night with my mouth open. At 14 cm the ...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

There is nothing in what I have received from Philips that states you must return the original equipment. They do recommend returning it so it can be reconditioned for others. Did you call Philips with your questions and explain things? If so, what did they say? https://www.usa.philips.com/healthca...

CPAP.com has a 30 days return policy on masks. https://www.cpap.com/returns#30-day-ris ... ask-policy Not sure whether others have it. I've never tried to use it, so I don't know how real/how many you could try.
Thanks. I appreciate it.

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

Is Philips replacing system one machines with dream station 2 machines? My system 1 is my back up and camping machine and it suits my needs. The new dream station 2 does not work for me. The design of it is awful. Can you back out of the recall somehow? Initially they said they were going to repair...

Re: Recommended approach to trying new masks - pls help

This video explains the Bleep system. 1:50 secs or so into it he describes how he shaves his mustache down a bit under the nose. The rest is informative also as it is a system you might like. They are improving the Bleep system to get rid of the fiddly hose connection and using magnets instead but ...

Re: Recommended approach to trying new masks - pls help

The NIH has an article at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4301251/ which concludes that nasal masks or nasal pillows should be the first choice. Nasal pillows have a smaller area to seal than FFMs. Since nasal pillows only need to seal around the nostrils, there is no issue regarding a...

Recommended approach to trying new masks - pls help

I've been using a Fischer-Paykel 432 full face mask for 20 years and I like it. However, even with new headgear and a new seal it leaks a lot. The intentional leak rate is high and my total leak rate is usually about double the intentional leak rate. I have a full beard (like Santa Claus) so even a ...
