Re: Ambien withdrawal
I've been on zolpidem for many years also. Some time ago I asked one of my doctors (who also specialises in addiction management) about getting off it - his advice was not to bother. Although Z is dependency-causing it is otherwise pretty benign. But few people manage to get off it without a major s...

Re: ASV machines
Do I absolutely have to have an ASV machine? If you have central sleep apnea (including complex apnea, mixed apnea and/or Cheyne Stokes respiration) then yes, you do need an ASV. Presumably you had one of these conditions when your were first prescribed the VPAP Adapt. The Resmed ASV is widely avai...

Re: Anyone else use the Airtouch F20 foam mask? How often do you actually replace it?
I gave up on the memory foam, despite its advantages. The cushion used to split at the bridge of the nose, typically after 3 or four weeks. Here in Oz they retail for AU$66 for a three-pack, a lot less than your $60 per. I find the silicone mask lasts up to a year, with care. Can this pack be bough...

Re: New user... pls help....
G'day Carlywarly, welcome to the forum. These machines are extremely reliable and there's every reason to trust the output. A treated AHI of 4.8 is OK, but many (most) people will feel better if they can get the AHI down lower - personally I prefer a target around 2.0. There are a few tweaks you can...

Re: I inherited an Aircurve 10 ASV - can it be programmed to operate solely as an APAP?
From the clinical manual, the available settings for ASVAuto mode are: Min EPAP Sets the minimum EPAP (minimum expiratory pressure) delivered by the device. 4–15 cm H2O Max EPAP Sets the maximum EPAP delivered by the device. Dependent on Min EPAP. 4–15 cm H2O Min PS Sets the minimum pressure support...

Also 6 stomach ulcers. They gave me an antacid drug, but I read that it's dangerous & had to quit it. Don't believe anything you read on the internet! Have you been tested for Helicobacter pylori? That is the most common cause of gastric ulcers (60% of stomach ulcers and 90% of duodenal ulcers), an...

Re: Heating Plate issue and AHI Increase
I'll have to take a look at sleepHQ and see if I can figure out how to upload data to it. I don't have an SD card, which I think I need in order to upload the data. I've seen some guy's Youtube videos on sleep apnea and he seems to work with or be part of SleepHQ. He's from your homeland! His video...

I use a wire coathanger. Loop the hose loosely over the hanger so that it doesn't kink, and obviously have the open ends downwards. Your can use the same hanger for your mask.

Re: Heating Plate issue and AHI Increase
The only thing I noticed upon inspection of the machine is that the heating plate under the humidifier chamber only gets slightly warm. This is normal - it only needs to get warm enough for the water to evaporate - it's not trying to boil it. If there is a humidifier fault, a warning should appear ...

Re: How often do you replace your humidifier chamber?
My S9 ASV still has its original tank from 2013. I retired that machine in 2021. I bought a new AC10 Aircurve in 2021 and that is still on its original tank, with no problems.
I don't replace anything unless it breaks or wears out. I also don't often throw things at the wall, and never my humidifier!

Re: Large Leaks Resmed ASV machine
It would probably help to see some Oscar screenshots or or SleepHQ share links so we can see exactly how the pressures are interacting over time. As you know, ASV machines undertake quite a dance of EPAP and IPAP going up and down in response to events. The Resmed manual recommends that PSmax should...
