I am apparently having a run of bad luck with filters from Amazon - the ads show a nice sealed foil bag and when they arrive they are in a plastic bag loose.

I think OK, maybe they order bulk and pull 60 out of the box of 1000 and ship them. Then I compare them to the real deal I get from my DME (Apria) and you can see through the amazon filters and the real deal ones you have to shine a bright light through and still can't see through them.

Makes me think of the difference in furnace filters between the old blue floss ones and a hepa white with fan folds.

Given the amount of pollen the pine trees all around me put out I am just sticking to what they send me every 3 months. That is 9 filters in individual plastic bags that look like they are marked at whatever factory with resmed logos and part numbers. I don't change them twice a month, but I do have an alarm set on my phone to change them once a month or at least check them. When the trees are putting off their pollen I might change them weekly or less. EVERYTHING turns yellow with the stuff for about 3 weeks.

You aren't comparing a standard filter to a hypoallergenic filter are you? The standards are very thin as compared to the hypos and are nearly translucent whereas the hypos are not.

Well, in this case the DME is sending me standard filters and what I order from amazon are the hypoallergenic ones.

Or maybe the DME is sending the hypoallergenic ones and the just stock those because it is cheaper to only inventory one type. I know that is a stretch but all the pap that comes with it just says 'filter, airsense, aircurve 10'.

EDIT: I looked at the picture pugsy posted and I am recieving the hypoallergenic filters from Apria. And the hypoallergenic ones I have received from amazon look more like the regular, maybe a little thicker.

In any case of the three different types I have ordered off amazon I have sent 2 back as soon as I looked at them. The first set of 60 I didn't know better before it was to late.

Having done work in HVAC in one of my past lives I know a dirty filter makes a motor work harder and I would rather not shorten the life of the motor on such an expensive little gem.

Finding OEM ResMed filters on the internet is not without its challenges. Mostly what we find when we do a search is going to be aftermarket filters.
Years ago I looked and looked and the only place I found was this seller (link below) and I found him on EBay then later I couldn't find him on EBay which is what caused me to search more.

Obviously the 50 pack is your best price point but even then it ain't cheap at a little over 2 bucks each ($104.90) for the hypo filters and 59.84 for the regular disposable OEM filters.

I am sure there are likely others selling OEM filters but I haven't looked in a long time and have no desire to go down that rabbit hole again but any of you guys/gals who want to try to find cheaper OEM...............go for it.
But if you just have to have OEM (for peace of mind or whatever) then this is what you have to do and what you have to pay and you might as well do it with a smile.

And finally.....we don't really know where ResMed gets "their" OEM filters. Do they really make their own or do they buy some else's product and rebrand them?? It's done all the time with other products.

At a great price! $0.09 for two. But, the shipping for two? $4.99. Yeah, not so good now.

I received the hypoallergenic filters that I ordered from Amazon yesterday.

As stated by the complaints on Amazon, the filters come in a ziplock bag with a printed sticker on it. That's it. No brand name, no indication that these are hypoallergenic filters.

In comparison to the hypoallergenic filter that I had left over from a previous purchase (unknown brand name, came from The CPAP Shop. I incorrectly stated above that they were OEM), the new filters are nearly identical visually. The material seems to be identical with the only differences, that I can tell, are the way the edges are sealed. The sealed boarder is slightly wider in the new filters as compared to the old. When holding the filters up to a light they seem to have the same opacity, in comparison to the standard filters, both hypos block way more light.
