Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
It would be best if you used a recording pulse oximeter. Here is a list of ones supported by OSCAR - https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=OSCAR_supported_machines#Pulse_Oximeters I favor the Contec CMS50F Wrist-worn Pulse Oximeter - https://www.amazon.com/Contec-Wrist-worn-Oximeter-Softw...

Re: Full face mask valve issue
Well, I must apologise, I was mistaken about the clicking noise being the valve in mum's mask. Last night the clicking noise was back, so I shined a light on the front of her mask and the valve was not opening & closing, it remained open as it should. The noise must be the water or something as sugg...

Re: Full face mask valve issue
Are the machine pressures still set at 22 inhale and 10 exhale? If it helps, the mask she is using is a Fisher & Paykel Evora full face mask. You can put this in the Equipment Profile, and it will start showing at the end of each of your posts and comments. (Masked Sleepers comment, for example.) T...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
So an interesting development... The knightsbridge chin strap I ordered for mum arrived yesterday so we tried it last night instead of the soft cervical collar. It didn't manage to keep a good seal, her chin still dropped significantly causing large mask leak around the bottom of her mouth, probably...

Full face mask valve issue
Hi all, Thank you everyone for all your help on my previous thread, I have another issue I'd like to ask for advice on also if that is ok. My mother is using a Philips Dreamstation BIPAP machine currently, and the last couple of nights whilst checking on her during the night I have noticed a fairly ...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
If you could post a OSCAR report that would be helpful to assess the degree of her leakage as well the apparent ineffectiveness of her treatment. (Referring to your statement that her saturation was restored AFTER she stopped treatment, "her oxygen level did rise quickly once she took the mask off ...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
A finger clip pulse oximeter, it's one the hospital recommended to us, just a little box that you clip onto your finger.
I was worried it may be inaccurately low or something so I tested it on myself and I was 98%, so I think it is working fine.

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
she is still getting a fair amount of constant leakage at the bottom of the mask... Her BIPAP pressures are 10 exhale, 22 inhale and i think that high inhale pressure is making it difficult to get that seal. It's usually a good idea to find the exact model mask on YouTube and watch three or so vide...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
I have drop jaw issues. The Airtouch F20, with the memory foam works for me. The foam makes it comfortable so I can tighten it enough to stop leaks. Just a suggestion. Thank you, I may need to try a different mask for her, I am looking at the ResMed AirTouch F20 like you suggested, also the ResMed ...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
I was under the impression the mask should be replaced about every 6 months, I wasn't aware the cushions should be replaced more frequently? I just replaced a mask/cushion that was two years old. This mask is similar to the one she has. Masks, except for foam masks, can last a very long time. I lik...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
Do you think it matters whether the collar or mask goes on first? I was worried if i put the collar on her first then it may be difficult to fit the back of the headband down the back of her head properly as the straps will need to go under the collar. Didn't you just answer your own question? :D Y...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
lso, I have read that wearing a cervical collar for too long can lead to muscle atrophy in the neck and other complications such as dysphagia and an increase in intracranial pressure values (ICPs), does anybody know about these risks? More of a risk when someone wears the collar 24/7 for prolonged ...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
Thank you ozij for the suggestion, we haven't tried fitting the mask with her jaw down, I guess that's something we can try, thank you :) I did manage to get a hold of a cervical collar, could the people that use them to hold the chin up can you please let me know whether it's best to put the bipap...

Re: Urgent Mask Leaking Help
he seemed to think a full face mask that goes over the bridge of the nose may help although the problem could still be there. It probably wouldn't help support the jaw unless it encompassed the chin itself to hold up the chin to prevent the jaw drop and it would have to be large, as in footprint, o...
