Re: Newbie question - starting tx

My understanding is that 98% of people fall into the 5-15 range. 20 feels wayyy to high to me. I will start with 5-13 and adjust accordingly based on my numbers. Thanks! The machine would only go to higher pressures if it needs to in order to clear an obstruction. You really aren’t doing yourself a...

Re: Newbie question - starting tx

You need to be sure your APAP machine has an SD card installed prior to using it - pretty much any off-the-shelf SD card will work if your machine doesn’t come with one. All of your detailed data will be stored on the card, and can be imported into OSCAR when you get a chance. The information that i...

Should have SD card by tuesday thanks to Amazon Prime! Does the machine keep the data on it without a SD card or do you need to have the SD card in it to get that extra data I see you guys posting?
The SD card needs to be in the machine - only summary data is stored otherwise.

Jimbud, when I go to File there is no "preference", so I could not hide the pie chart.. Can you help me?
Try clicking on the application menu, just to the left of the file button.

Re: AHI help

The goal is to have the CPAP machine stop all events, right? As a goal, I suppose that would be correct. In reality, it is very unlikely. You will have good days and bad days. The machine reacts to apneas, it doesn’t typically anticipate them other than if you snore or have serious flow limitations...

Re: I Can NOT Find My Machine: or Mask: Listed! Just Humidifier: HumidAire 2i Heated Humidifier! Under [ Edit Profile],

The question being asked is not at all clear - are you asking how AHI is calculated, or are you asking how the “correct” pressure for therapy is determined? AHI is a very straightforward calculation - number of total obstructive apneas and hypopnea events divided by the amount of time involved. Trea...

Re: CPAP newbie, question about pressure increase

Just a thought - the leak may be happening because you are changing sleep position part way through the night. It doesn’t take much movement to break the seal.

Re: CPAP newbie, question about pressure increase

Leaks lower the pressure at the mask level, so yes pressure will increase as the machine tries to maintain the level being delivered. For me, turning the machine off and back on again to reset to the minimum pressure has been the most effective response. Trying to reseat the mask to eliminate the le...

Re: Newbie here! Have a couple questions...

Regarding the cat - i had to hug a small pillow where my cat preferred to snuggle at night in order to keep her away from my face. I ended up needing another pillow to cover my groin when she decided the first approach was not to her liking 😉

Re: terrible sleep quality

Mind if I ask how you got RE flags to show on your chart? I'm also using the Airsense 10 with Oscar software and cannot find the option anywhere in preferences or the green/black event flags to choose to show RERAs. Under the graphs, but on the left side, is a drop down menu that lets you pick or e...

Re: terrible sleep quality

Update after today’s meeting with the sleep doctor - This was obviously a compliance meeting, but I did end up with minimum pressure being raised to 12 and maximum to 15 (the occasional leak was getting pressures up to 20, which woke me up, so he limited the max to help me sleep through the night). ...

The sarcasm does not appear to be aimed at the doctor - it looks to be aimed at a comment from another member here. I think everyone understands the doctor’s position.

Re: Real men DO use RAMP

To be fair, i thought both posts clearly stated that ramp was useful as a way to avoid false positives and thereby lower AHI. They certainly did NOT seem to say anything about scores being “dominated” by those false positives though. Now that many of my mask and machine issues are more under control...

Re: AHI worse with CPAP than without?

If your sleep test was in-lab, any events that happened while you were awake would have been excluded from AHI, unlike what you are seeing from your machine. If you had the at-home test, it likely is related to just getting used to therapy. Anxiety (some might also say obsession 😁) doesn’t make slee...
