Need Help selecting new travel cpap and battery

Post by RichInBunlyGoodness » Mon Apr 29, 2024 8:00 pm

I've been using a cpap successfully for about 10 years. Last year, I was able to get a new one through insurance. The old one gives off error messages due to excess hours used, but it still works for the most part, such that I've taken it on international trips (without the humidifier) and on backpacking trips along with an 11 AH Talentcell 12V battery. When I'm backwoods camping in my hammock, I sleep so well that 9 hours/night is typical, and my existing battery only gets me a little less than 2 full nights. I'd like to be able to get 4 full nights. And I'd also like a travel cpap that is smaller than just the main unit of my old Resmed S9 + brick.

I don't need to take the battery on travel trips; I just plug into wall outlets. It is hard to get any unbiased reviews on travel cpaps. It seems that the most easily accessible reviews are done by people who are pitching a product. And I've searched here, but am having a hard time with this question. I'd like to stay below 1000 USD for cpap + battery. I see that Talentcell has a 38 AH for $99. That would be awesome. Oh, and the cpap shouldn't be so loud it is disruptive to my wife at night.

Any suggestions?

The ones I was looking at are the Z2 Auto Travel and the Transcend Micro. Are there any others I should consider at this price point? Do these models have any issues with reliability and excess noise?

I don't know anything about the transcend, but I have the Z2 auto. it's a nice machine, uses very little current so a battery will last a long time. It is truly tiny. The only issue is that it is definitely louder than a stay at home CPAP full-size unit. But I suspect that this is always going to be the case because travel units have to be much smaller and therefore can't really have a lot of sound insulation inside. I used to have the older model and when it started to develop problems after many years I took it apart. There was really no insulation whatsoever.

Would the Z2 work with the Talentcell PB120B1?

It needs 15 V DC in, so you would need the appropriate converter.
