AHI 0.0 9 nights in a row.. is this a malfunction?

Post by bitteroblivion » Tue May 07, 2024 11:19 am

I have a slight concern re: my Airsense 10. Last night marked the 9th night in a row that my arousals have been 0.0. A couple days of this striked me as odd / unusual, but 9 days seems next to impossible (I think?!). I was recently diagnosed (AHI of 16.7) and I started treatment 2 months ago - I now average about 0.2-0.6 AHI nightly with treatment. Occasionally I'll get a 0.0, but this long of a streak to me is suspicious?

I emailed my sleep therapist after mentioning my concern (after seeing some folks online mention their machines have gotten stuck on 0). She said everything looks great and while rare it does happen and I seem to be doing great on paper. Not sure what to think! My gut is telling me this is unusual; confused how I went from scores like 0.6 0.5 0.4 0.2 0.3 nightly for two months straight to suddenly 8 days in a row of 0.0

Here's a few nights worth of data:

Did you happen to unplug your machine from the electric source and then plug it back in sometime during the past 8 nights?

If you didn't....give that a try and then see what tonight's data looks like.

In the past when machines seemed to get "stuck" on something a forced reboot of the machine software by disrupting electric seemed to have fixed the problem. Similar to what we do when we reboot a computer to clear out the cobwebs.

Sadly yes, multiple times, sometimes unplugged for the entire day with no luck

Nothing in the charts looks "stuck" to me.
Your machine is recording flow limitations, and responding to them by raising the pressure.
Your machine is recording snores, and responding to them by raising the pressure.
Your machine is recording a changing flow rate, and you can see the flow change when you zoom to a period where you have flow limitations - e.g. 03:52:10 to 03:52:35 on April 30. You can also see how just after that, the pressure rises and makes your breathing nice and round.

Nothing stuck. Looks like the ResMed algorithm and you were made for each other! Enjoy.

Wow thank you for putting my mind at ease! That's the general consensus of what I've been hearing - crazy! I'm just confused why I went from decimal AHI's nightly for two months straight (0.5, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 etc) to suddenly 9 nights in a row of 0.0

You want to see apneas in your report? Turn the machine mode to CPAP and the pressure to 4.0.

lol! i understand you've been here since 2012 but please remember i am only two months into this whole journey. i want to make sure there's nothing wrong with the machine as I've read before about it getting stuck on 0. I am looking to members like you, who have experience, to let me know their thoughts about if 9 nights in a row at 0 is possible or of concern. appreciate the ha-ha's, but this reply isn't helpful

Looks like your pressure is being driven by Snore. Snores are not flagged as events. This does not mean you're perfectly treated, just that your particular mode is not flagged. You could probably up your min pressure 1cm or lose 1cm of EPR.
