Toronto, Can. Vendor Choice

Hi Everyone,

I'm just wondering if those that have (or are going to be prescribed) CPAP are being given a choice of providers by there specialists.

Let me know.

I also was given a choice and I called insurance company and got a list of approved carriers. The one I picked charged me nothing where the others wanted on average $400.00 out of pocket and I do not have the horror stories others have had. This guy jumps through hoops for me. Having said that, I know more than he ever will from just these message boards so educate yourself and you will do fine.

My doctor's office in Ottawa didn't really give me a choice. There are only 2 vendors here. Access Therapy and Medigas.

Mine seems quite good. I've only been using the CPAP for 3 weeks now, and I'm using it on a 30 day trial. I've tried 4 or 5 different masks. The ladies at my supplier are fantastic and they've been very patient in helping me find a good mask. Being nasally challenged (tiny little nose), we've been having problems finding a mask that fits properly. I've found one now that I can live with.

Although my insurance has approved me, they still want a quote before they'll let me purchase one. So I've got to give my suppliers a call today to get them to send the quote.

Lynne

I told my doctor that I was not in the position to pay out the money that Assistive Devices was not covering.

I needed a place that would wait until I got my insurance refund.

The doctor explained that he had alot of suppliers, and if one said no, he would just get another one. The first two were not compliant, but the third has been great. Actually, they are in Pickering.

If you want to go to a specific supplier, get the prescription from the doctor.
