Re: Variations in AHI
Thanks Pugsy. Happy New Year to you too. The first video did not like my computer, so I need to solve that problem before I can learn to evaluate the events. I think it will be interesting to do, so I will work on that when I can. Nice to know the software does all that. Maybe I don't have a problem...

Variations in AHI
I have been using cpap therapy for over 12 years. After the first 7 or 8 months, I found the solution for me, the right machine, the right mask and the right pressure. For years my AHI (according to my data and my doctor) stayed in the very low numbers. My AHI for 6 months would be between 0.4 and 0...

Re: OT - Statins and You
As a statin alternative, our doctor recently put my husband on Repatha. Although expensive, the manufacturer has a safety net program to pay for it if you qualify. Also just in the last month the manufacturer reduced the price by about 60%. Still expensive, but better. On Medicare it is a tier 5 dru...

Re: true or not?
I mentioned above here that I have the opinion that untreated sleep apnea causes weight gain. Long ago when I first started treatment, I had read how the consequences of apnea affected hormones and that one of them controlled how hungry you feel and the other let you know when you had eaten enough. ...

Re: true or not?
Thanks for the answers. I doubted her claim, but did not want to challenge her until I checked in here first. I will gently ask if she has had a sleep study to be sure. She probably has not and will not appreciate the question. Most people don't want to have sleep apnea and wear a mask and so forth....

true or not?
I have a friend who has been having memory problems. I suggested untreated sleep apnea as a possible cause. She replied that she had apnea some time ago but lost some weight and now is fine. She is 67 years old. Never been more than a little heavier than she wanted to be. What do you think? True or ...

Re: floaters in humidifier
Thanks for the help. Computer issues have kept me off the internet for a couple days. To wash the humidifier reservoir, I first emptied it, then rubbed the inside with my finger to see if it felt dirty. No. I used hot tap water to wash it, rubbing my fingers inside the reservoir to clean the surface...

floaters in humidifier
So I have a new Dreamstation machine that I have been using about a month. I always use distilled water in the humidifier, as I have done for 12+ years while using my cpap. For the first time ever, when I go to fill the humidifier before bed, I see tiny white floaters in the humidifier reservoir. I ...

Re: In person Fitting Required for new CPAP for 20 year user
I recently got a new machine. The DME told me that they had to document for Medicare that they instructed me on the use of the machine. They had me sign a document that they did that. Other insurances may have different requirements, and my DME could just possibly be making up stuff and also making ...

Thanks, Stom. Great answer. Now I understand, and I bet it will work for me, too.

Re: fix the Dreamwear
Stom, I like the looks of the headgear you pictured. When I looked at cpap.com for the headgear, it said it will only fit the full face mask. So I looked at the full face mask to see the difference. Your picture shows it on the nasal cushion. How did you make that work? I would like to try that head...

fix the Dreamwear
So I have this new Dreamwear mask and it seems both good and bad. I like the nose cushion, a nice change after many years of nasal pillows. I do not like the strap in the back of the head. That seems to have the wrong angle for me. It slides right off the top of my head. I pulled my hair over the st...

Re: Medicare rules
When Medicare first required the change to a special contract DME in our area, I had no choice but to use a mail order supplier as no company here had a contract approved. I hated the way they worked. Even though I have to fight for everything with the local DME we now have, I do better with them. T...

Re: Medicare rules
Pugsy, I can only fight for myself, not the many other people this company fails. If I had accepted what the last person said, I would not get the new machine my doctor ordered that I need. Most people who use Medicare have gotten older and some of them can be misled or confused by the representativ...
