Odd sleep study results

Post by lawdognellie » Wed Apr 11, 2007 12:45 am

Okay, I finally had a PSG. Since we already know I have apnea, I wore a mask. However, she titrated that I needed a pressure of 10, where my previous titration was 16. My APAP machine ALWAYS ends up between 16-17.5. Can anyone figure out what could account for this variation?

Different techs titrate differently. Several here have had grossly inaccurate titrations, and sometimes it's not even the tech's fault. Also, how long did the tech have to titrate you?

I don't know. I haven't gotten the hard copy results yet.

Sarah,

I know that if someone has centrals, the higher pressure may trigger them. So a lower pressure is enough to keep the obstructive apneas away, but a higher pressure and then centrals kick in. (This is not the same for everyone.)

Do you sleep deeper at various times of the month? If yes, you may sleep deeper and more pressure may be needed.

Just some thoughts. Are they worth at least 2 cents. LOL
